USOG Yes, we will get through it, and it will become smaller with time. Many people alive in N America have never experienced hard times, or even bothered to learn about what their parents or ancestors had to endure. We're stronger than we imagine (most of us), but at the same time life is more fragile than we imagine. Things will happen as they are meant to be, and life will go on. In the meantime, were blessed with technology like this that can form communities and friends ships, despite isolation and distances. How lucky we are.

I appreciate your content, even more so in these trying times. It is a guilty pleasure for me. Please continue. Thank you for reviewing the Franchi rifle. I looked at one recently and was taken by the fit and finish. Encouraging information, truly! I was at a local shop and overheard the clerk talking to a perspective Savage Axis purchaser. "The stock is really poor." Clerk - "yes but I can order you a Bell & Carlson stock with full aluminum bedding, just $345. "The trigger feels terrible". Clerk - "that is common on these rifles, I can sell you an XYZ trigger for $165 which is smooth as silk". The conversation went on and by the end the customer was paying more than $1200 for the Axis and all the parts. Is this actually a part of the manufacturers marketing? To make a 1 MOA action with modern manufacturing techniques and tools is not too challenging. Has the sporting rifle become the Glock pistol which has more options and add ons available so it can be accessorized like a Barbie doll? If so then best wishes to all the small businesses that manufacture all the high quality components that the gun makers are leaving off.

Franchi shotguns are extremy popular here in Finland, where people shy away from over the top, expensive firearms because of "guns are tools" mentality and priority number 1 is reliability, regardless of weather conditiond and as many people know, Finland can get pretty inhospitable, during winter especially. Almost all gun owners here are hunters, so the equipment reflects that, ruggedness, ease of maintenance and reliability are thing people look into. Within those parameters franchi hit a sweet spot with price/quality with shotguns and I believe it's the same with those rifles. Basically a benelli, but costs less, who would not want that? Thank you for the video.
@UnitedStatesOfGuns4 жыл бұрын
I like the Finnish mentality as you describe it. Things ought to have a purpose. Beautiful firearms are nice - but firearms that are reliable, tough, simple and accurate - are beautiful as well. This Franchi/Benelli Momentum is a rifle that wants to go hunting - a really well made and accurate, tough and simple rifle. I like everything about it. And that stock is perfect. All the best to you and yours in your great country.

I’m a Ruger M77 MKII fan. Having said that I cannot help but praise Ruger for getting such amazing accuracy out of the American Series of rifles. For my personal use I’d take a used M77 over three new American rifles but there’s no denying that scores of customers have nothing but praise for the American’s accuracy. 3/4 MOA @ 100yds seems to be the normal with some handloaders getting 1/2” MOA @ 100yds. Obviously Ruger put the quality in the barrel and bedding and cut corners everywhere else.

Hey, you mentioned that you didn't know why they didn't just call it a benelli. Well your right it is. Benelli has the same rifle with a few more bells and whistles in the stock. The reason for franchi is distribution. For a store to sell benelli they must commit to a contract to be a "Benelli authorized" dealer or new guns. Franchi however is available to all dealers through normal distribution.

Beretta owns many firearm manufacturers. Benelli and Franchi included. After Beretta bought Franchi they changed the models a lot. Beretta has a history of trying out news designs in the less known brand names before risking the image of the the two top flight names Beretta and Benelli. I have a Franchi versamax 912. it was the system that Beretta put into their extrema series. wanted to test it out in less known brand first just in case. Perhaps they repeated this pattern and made this as a test bed for the Benelli rifle before putting Benelli name at risk.

Old guy here. Have been enjoying your channel very much and finally figured out how to subscribe. I recently added both a Husqvarna and a Stiga to my small collection, based on what I’ve learned here. And I laughed on this video when you pulled the bolt out of the Ruger American and it made that distinctive zipper noise. I watch the tech specs on new rifle intros so went and handled a few. Best I can say is I guess those coarse milled surfaces will hold oil. Chasing tech specs has led me to a few instances of post purchase remorse over the years. But you mentioned how you liked the feel of the Franchi stock and it got me thinking. Rifle ergonomics. I know it can be felt, but can it be quantified I wonder? Some rifles are simply a joy to shoulder, and now that I’m older, I’d rather use one that shoulders well ahead of one with all the modern specs. I can close my eyes and think of several, but they are very different guns. If you were to put your favourites on the table, could you take your green pencil and point to why?

I must start with saying that I have not handled any Franchi rifles or shotguns. But the rifle does look nice. As to the bolts, the Beneli is one of a number of rifles, and shotguns, that use the floating or pinned on bolt head principle. This is becoming very popular today. It works very well, but also is a big cost saver for manufacturers. But we should not loose sight of the fact that this is not new at all. I can't say with certainty that it was the first usage of the pinned bolt head as a number of older machinegun designs used it. But I do know that Nick Brewer utilized it on the very accurate, popular and cheap to manufacture Savage 110 series of bolt guns. They solve a number of problems, prime of which is the flat spring washer used between the bolt body and bolt head. This makes possible equal pressure on the case head and helps in keeping uniform headspace. Others may have jumped on the bandwagon with this principle, but we really owe Savages Nick Brewer thanks for the widespread use of this innovative engineering design. Thanks Nick ! I also feel like you about the Ruger American, I think it is a step backwards from the M-77, M-77MKII and even the Hawkeye. I hope this isn't a trend. Bill Ruger would not approve and would be disappointed. Stay safe and healthy.

I keep seeing people getting the budget Ruger Americans, Savage etc. and mounting them in the MDT chassis to go hunting or compete in long range gatherings. I have also looked at the MDT weight and they seem to be higher but people still hunt with them. I really like the modern look. I believe without doubt that they are at least .002 % better in accuracy but is it worth it to the hunter?
@ourvaluesarewhoweareinadem40934 жыл бұрын
Working at an FFL I constantly recommend the Franchi Momentum rifles to budget shoppers because they are really fantastic rifles and absolutely the best bang for your buck. For whatever reason when they look at the bolt they immediately get turned off of the rifle. Not sure what it is about the bolt, but people just do not like how it looks it seems.
@Gunners_Mate_Guns4 жыл бұрын

Just found your vid after looking at one of these Franchi's new on the shelf here in Canada. I am looking for a medium caliber 24-26 cal bolt gun that isn't too expensive Was impressed in the store, I believe it was the same price as the Ruger American Savage axis is a step below in price. Here, right now inventory can be an issue, so if it's not on the shelf you could be waiting for a while. I was unimpressed with the feel of the axis, and the American. With the Franchi, I didn't know what to expect so I thought I would just add budget and step up to a tikka (I have a tikka in 300wm already) but maybe I'll pull the trigger on the Franchi. Franchi has limited caliber choices in the momentum line, but more selection in the elite line iirc.

@scotteger62714 жыл бұрын
So one thing I don't understand is, why would they put a metal trigger guard and hinged floor plate on this, but mold the sling studs out of plastic? I did see that the Momentum Elite has a detachable magazine and picatinny rail. Both the Franchi Momentum and Mauser M18 have caught my eye. Not that I dislike the Sauer 100, but it's a lot more right now than the M18 (for what seems like virtually the same firearm). I like the dual ejectors on the M18 and 3 position safety. I haven't handled one (have handled the Sauer 100), but one concern I'd have is how firmly the removable buttplate/recoil pad fits in the stock...like, could it fall out, or does it really snap in there? On the other hand, from the reviews I've seen the Momentum is like a laser guided target rifle with accuracy...so that's a plus. It's also threaded, and although I don't often run a supressor it's nice to have, even for just a muzzle brake. My only real concern with it would be the durability of the plastic sling studs. The stock's ergos look amazing. I've handled the Benelli Lupo...I know they're not the same, but they seem to have similar style/ergos...it fit me well and felt great. I'd be looking to get either in 308. Any pros/cons you can give would be awesome. I always appreciate your view and opinions.

Hi Dick - thanks for subbing. Your R1 is fantastic - I had an R1 in '06 - just about perfect. The 350 is something isn't it! I like that round a lot. More to come on that one. You didn't brag at all - nice to read from you. All the best to you.

There are three brand new ones sitting up at my local ACE Hardware, on of which is .308. I'm thinking about buying it, and you mentioned having test fired this gun and how accurate it is. Just wondering what round you fired in it for accuracy? Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel, Remington 150 grain or Federal 150 - they were both excellent. Actually in the meantime that rifle shoots just about anything well. Cheers.

Franchi update, well I purchased the Franchi Momentum in 30 06 and managed to take it out hunting four times before season ended so here's my review. Cons, stock isn't much better than the Ruger I had to shave the left side cuz the barrel was rubbing hard on it, Magazine is also cheap plastic and after a dozen times the catch on the back of the magazine is worn to the point where it falls out, 1 in 11 twist and a 22 inch barrel so it doesn't like heavier bullets, No aftermarket parts or replacement parts (still looking for a new clip), bolt is sloppy and you have to put some upwards pressure on it to get it to cycle. Pros, its a $750.00 dollar gun, the bolt is timed rather well, the barrel is hammer forged, its extremely light, plastic stock so no worries about scratching it up or putting marks on it, with 165grn federal fusion its a one inch gun at 100 yards all day long. In conclusion Its cheap and its accurate what more could you want from a bush gun All the best for the new year

Hi Nello - You're a fine gun reviewer! So far so good with mine - I should make a better video. Altogether they are excellent rifles - although you're right - always room for improvement. Thank you for sending!

I am considering purchasing this rifle in 300 WM. The weapon is light weight and the barrel is threaded for a muzzle brake with a 300 WM I will probably need it. The Tikkas are more expensive and the barrels need threading for a muzzle brake unless you go up in models/price. I wanted just to look at the quality of the weapon and the accuracy. Thanks.

I absolutely love your videos. However, is there any way your photographer could zoom in much closer on the small parts you're showing? Generally your vids are a bit dark, and I have a problem seeing details. When you're showing the actions on these rifles it would be a better experience for us to see them in greater detail. But, thanks for these videos. I really do enjoy your content.

Hi Craig - The .500 is surprisingly user friendly - I'll get to the range one of these days if they're open and the IJ Trap - what a self-hitting shotgun - easiest trap gun I've shot. Thanks for being here.

Franchi is part of Beretta as is Benelli too. So Beretta is the big mom who has these other under her wing. Some one has probably said this already but here it is again.

@@UnitedStatesOfGuns I have Franchi Horizon .308 (it is the EU version of Momentum). Pretty much the same with out fancy fluted bolt. Only negative is the finish on the barrel, rusts like maniac if the weather is bad. As the weather is usually bad here in Finland. ps. I agree with the stock, one of the best factory polymer stocks. And BTW Sako and Tikka is too under the Beretta umbrella ;)

I have this rifle. It shoots nice. Still trying to figure out to get 4+1. I can only get 4 in. Mine is in 6.5. Low recoil which is great for a first time owner like me.

@ChattanoogaDave4 жыл бұрын
@@Catgat37 It's accurate. I knocked my scope way off and manged to get it back to MOA at 100 yards very easily. The barrel does get quite hot of hot days but who is using this as an AR. I have noticed that the trigger can be a little sensitive and I believe it needs adjusting. Last time out I did not have any issues but it has fired 2 times on me when I put just a little pressure on it. All said I would buy it again.

Probably pronounced Fron-kee. The letter “a” in Italian is pronounced like the English short “o”. All these budget guns being made are kind of a race to the bottom. It’s good they are available for those that can’t or don’t want to spend more. And nowadays some of them are quite accurate. Personally I can’t get past the low grade of materials. Composite to me is plastic. And plastic trigger guards? Ouch! Plastic magazines? Ouch again.

USOG Even when I bought my Franchi Shotgun i listened to many different pronunciations of the name Franchi . BTW the Franchi Affinity comes down the same assembly line as the Benelli M2 shotgun in Italy . I guess I would have to travel to Italy 🇮🇹 to truly find out the correct pronunciation. I’m not a language expert . But didn’t like when someone called it Fran-Chee like in Raunchy .lol

Franchi is Italian. As I understand it, in Italian the "ch" is a pronounced as a hard K sound, not a soft "ch" as it would be in English.
