In all honesty Gohan has like some sort of split personality when it comes to being a warrior. Ever since the moments he turned Super Saiyan 2 and Mystic he was never quite the same. He lacked the ferocious beast nature he’s always had. Idk in those moments where he was a beast he was always pushing higher to protect his loved ones. It wasn’t until now he realized his loved ones will never be safe until he walks the path of a warrior and scholar. So this quote makes sense but is still a white lie lol.
