Benjamin Frankel, Symphony No.2 (3/3)

The cool emotional atmosphere of this symphony gives it an unattractive quality; it is a pervasive sadness with periods of desolation that lead to despair. Its' motif-driven form emphasizes its' businesslike, mirthless nature. All of which makes it intriguing and fascinating, difficult to listen to, yet leaving me with the desire to hear it again and become more familiar with it, to plumb the depths I was unable to on the first attempt.
