I agree with ya again. I think Ned sent Benjin to the wall for his protection because he knew about Jon. ❤

In the books Jon mentions how wights seem to have some memory of life because Jaffar Flowers’ wight seeks out LC Mormont in his specific chambers so I’m betting Benjen is being kept near the Others so they can use his knowledge of the Watch and the Wall to attack and defeat them fully. Like maybe they knew they were at the Fist of the First Men because zombie Benjin was like ‘that’s where LC Mormont and crew will hold up’ I could be wrong obviously but I think it’s sound

At this point that might actually be the case

I would believe that Benjen could find the floating swamp castle.

If coldhands was benjen, surely Bran would recognise him. I know there's a point made about him covering most of his face. But I'm sure I'd recognise my family member with a scarf on.

This is really a though exercise. I feel like it's right, but I'm not going to defend it to the death. At the end of the day can we agree BR sees the future or has a general idea what will happen? What would he do with that info? Our first nugget is Gared and the pups. Long debated, how did he get south? We get a possible answer when Sam climbs up the well. Coldhands and BR need agents because they're stuck on the north side. If you assume BR had a hand in the wolf pups, then the easiest answer is that he rescues Gared and convinces him to turn himself into a village when the pups are born so the Starks will be drawn out to find them. Gared probably tried to give Ned a message from BR and Coldhands, but Ned thinks he's nuts or babbling to save himself. So, does BR forsee the sack of Winterfell and Bran coming north to him? If he does, what would he do? Does BR believe there must always be a Stark in Winterfell and what are his options? A possible answer might be Benjen. Coldhands convincing Ben to disappear, pass the Wall, and hide in the Crypts until Bran or Rickon return. This depends almost entirely on BR believing in the Stark in Winterfell. It's not entirely my theory, but many have wondered if the Hooded Man in Theon's chapter is Benjen. Why did Ben join the Wall? That I'll avoid. People get to hostile when you question certain theories. But, you are likely very right about him knowing something, just wrong about what it is. If you are willing to debate it, I'll gladly share why Benjen could not remain in Winterfell

What do you think Benjen knew? I'd really like to hear your ideas... I'm not looking for a debate or an argument, I'm just genuinely curious and would love to hear an alternative theory to the "Group-think" answer that we all know and love lol!!!

@ejsmith2246 You did ask, lol The story is built on multiple parallels. When you know who is parallel to who you can pull from one to inform the other, as he pointed out in the last video about Jon and Dany being basicly the same. I was a huge R+L fan for years, however studying the parallels it doesn't make sense. GRRM designed Dany as a pure fire, and to do it made her born of two generations of incest. The mystery of the first book is that Joff is secretly also (Tywin and Joanna were cousins). Just as a general question, why wouldn't these have been set up for a later payoff? Bran's vision has Ben and Lyanna sword fight in the godswood, a scene similar to Jaime and Brienne. The most likely scenario is that Lyanna realized she was pregnant. Ned asked Ashara to have Rhaegar escort Lyanna secretly to Starfall to have the baby and then return to marry Robert with no one the wiser, then Ned would claim him as his own by Ashara. So Jon is a pure ice baby, Rickard married his cousin and then Ben and Lyanna pulled a Targaryen, likely giving Jon a strong connection to ice magic. Ben may or may not know, although in Jon's first chapter he accidentally calls him son. Ben may have been sent as a punishment, but I suspect Benjen joined the NW because Lyanna was dead and he didn't want Ned to force him to marry someone else. As noted in other characters like Loras and Blackfish. Jon is symbolized in Dany's vision as a Rose and the Wall. If Ben is his father, it's a perfect way to symbolize him. GRRM has planted the sibling drama in several stories. Aerion and Aegon, Euron and Aeron. He first planted the idea when he planned for Jon and Arya to fall in love. I actually find it funny how many ship Jon and Arya, but suddenly pinch their nose as Ben and Lyanna. It makes Benjen's story a parallel to Jaime who watched his kids from the KG and allowed another man to claim them. Ben watches Jon from a distance allowing Ned to claim him. Jeor likely knows and it's probably why he made Jon a Steward to keep them apart. There are more parallels to support the idea, but those are the strongest points.
