Was able to get there first to get this promo. Gotta admit, never had an Okuma and have always used Phenix Trifecta rods. The rod is impressive and the reel’s quality surprised me.

So cool that you push buying from local shops vs online. Presentation, cadence and retrieval are the most important things to focus on.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll list my affiliate links and stuff but yes, supporting local shops is also important to me. Def agree on P, C, and R when it comes to upping our games. Tight lines!

I support my local shops also except for when buying LC’s. Local shop here in SD sells them for almost 25.00! To me that’s a ridiculous price.

Thanks for the video really great breakdown of the different styles and techniques you mentioned sizes of hooks but not type. Can you tell us what specific type of hook use on these different set ups. going to a store there’s hundreds of different hook types and each brand has different sizing so it will be helpful to know which type and the specific brand so we can look at the actual design of the hook, Thank you.

Thanks so much for this comment, really helps me know the things I may have missed and this is a great observation. These are Owner Mosquito hooks. We didn't really go into hook type for the drop shot, but most folks will use a 1/0 or 2/0 straight shank from Gamakatsu or Owner. Or if you want to go weedless, go with 1/0 or 2/0 EWG from either of those brands. I'll also nose hook with a size 2 Owner mosquito when drop shotting, if the water is clean enough.

Another banger like always Benjie! Anthony looking sharp as always 😍 I need to take both of you out so we can dial in one last technique. It'll be so fun too 👏👊

Dude much love always man, and thank you for the comment. Absolutely yes, would love to get out there and have you show me how it's done. I'll talk to Anthony and maybe we can set something up. I'd love to film an episode where you teach me how to use your heads....I still have the ones you sent me man and I feel SUPER bad for not having showcased them. Part of it is my lack of confidence versus the time I have to try and film content. But would love to film one where we feature your products and have you teach us. Would love to keep in touch, appreciate you! Tight lines!

Great video man. Nobody mentioned what size weight to use on the drop shot. The one used on the video looked too small.
@BenjieKimFishing4 ай бұрын
Hey Hector thanks for the comment. And my apologies on not including that info. Personally, my go to is a 1 oz torpedo sinker but it’s dealers choice and also conditions specific. If ur fishing an area that is generally calmer (like Long Beach due to the breakwall), you could probably go lighter. But 1 oz is pretty much my sweet spot.

@@BenjieKimFishing I greatly appreciate you getting back to me. I have used drop shots successfully for trout and bass. I am looking forward to trying it on the surf as well. Keep up the great videos and content!

Hello how much weight to use for drop shot?
@BenjieKimFishing4 ай бұрын
I almost always use a 1 oz torpedo sinker but you can go lighter or heavier depending on conditions.

One thing I really dislike about the claifornia action is just all of the light lures. I really wish we could cast out 2-4oz jigs and get bass from the shore
