Benmont is so brilliant. I could listen to him talk about music all day. A true fan, a musician's musician, and an authentic badass.

Yet one more reason I've always respected & loved Benmont Tench's way of summing things up & as a fellow musician. As a musician myself, although I play flute & to be clear I'm a classical artist, not a rock & roll musician, music is music in this example, & I COULDN'T AGREE MORE - LIVE IS ALWAYS BETTER. I really love how Benmont doesn’t just say this, but really explains the reasons why as well. The ability to be able to react to each other, as an ensemble, in the moment. I count myself very fortunate to have been born & raised in Gainesville, FL, around the same time & been able to have listened to this group grow as musicians to become, in my mind, THE VERY BEST & TALENTED, LIVE ROCK & ROLL BANDS EVER. It's not often one gets a chance to really see & hear that, so I'll be forever grateful for that. They were amazing to see live & I stand by my feelings that the Heartbreakers were the 'BEST LIVE BAND EVER'. Watch a video of them live & turn the sound off & really pay attention to how they all are constantly watching each other & reacting as a cohesive unit, then go back turn on the sound & watch it again, again paying attention to their ability to react to where each of the others are going musically. It's like watching a musical ballet. As close to 'Perfection', as you can truly have ever saw/seen. It was always about the music & that's why this band was such a special treasure for so many generations & generations to come who while they won't be able to experience them live in person, they'll always be able to hear & be moved by their live music. I've always felt that music, truly & distinctly, defines us as human beings since our very beginning, before we even had language. There's always been a rhythm, a beat, to which we moved & lived. One can imagine, from a purely Anthropological view, that at some point one person lifted their voice & uttered the first primordial notes to that undercurrent rhythm. Soon after, another added harmony to those notes, & music, though primitive by what we think of today, was born. My sincerest apologies for rambling on & on, Lolol 😅, & waxing philosophical, as it were, Lolol 😄❤! But hey, without those primitive beginnings, we'd never have gotten to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! Music, especially Live Music, defines & unites us. It brings us together & takes each of us on our own personal yet wonderfully connected journey & this particular band, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, especially when seen/heard LIVE, just had a way of doing it like no other & I'm forever grateful for that. Very Respectfully, LadyAnnePhD ^^ö^^

Never really heard Ben before, but love the organic style too. Turn on the recorder and lay it down, we'll edit it later...
