But that is unfortunately our heritage of several centuries or even millennia, christianity only ONE OF THOSE factors of hate towards 'other sexuality'. But even more unfortunate is that it is up to us, the next generations to change our "weak" society to a more open and "stronger" society, where there is less hate and more people can be whom they want to be!

When I was little I asked my dad “Why can girls like me wear boy clothes but boys don’t wear dresses?” My dad just shrugged. I got my brother to agree to switch clothes for a day and I still didn’t understand. To this very day, I don’t understand. It’s not complicated, it’s just, for some reason, the way it is I guess. But luckily things are changing and people are becoming more open minded.

Tbh, I've gotten tired of all the girl motivation songs. It may be true that girls need motivation to break out of certain gender roles, but boys do too. I'm glad that I've found this song. It shows how boys struggle with this thing too, and I feel like it hasn't been recognized enough. I hope more people find this song so they can also realize this.

“Boys Will Be Boys” [Lyrics] I'm so tired of your illusions The rules, they never change And my mind is so abusive From taking on the shapes When it comes to your love, is it unconditional? When it comes to my love, anything is fixable And all this noise is so relentless I need a second to breathe Cause if boys will be boys And we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go I'm no longer taking lessons from those who broke before Now that I am done confessing, the words have left me sore When you feel the restless pain As it crawls out of your heart And the thoughts of yesterday Bring you to where you are And all these voices that once controlled me can't contain me here Cause if boys will be boys And we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Tell me how it feels to win it Has it gone according to your plan? Do you wish that you'd forget it or? Or do you feel less like a human? Ooh if boys don't cry not a man am I Not a day goes by that I've had to lie Who I was before Since I closed that door And it's all white noise That boys must be boys Cause if boys will be boys And we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go

I-ship-it dark I know many trans people (at least 20), and when they say trans boy, they mean identify as boy now but assigned female at birth. But wilted roses seems to be using it differently? Also the way I just said is always how I've seen it on the internet before now, so I really don't know. That’s b.s. Just some facts from your friendly neighborhood lesbian 🌈💕
@insomniaaaaa48133 жыл бұрын
I love your point. But I also want to add onto it by saying that women are also criticised for not performing gender expression, hence the angry 'fat' feminist trope where a woman who cant perform gender or is unconventionally beautiful is supposedly rejected by men and becomes a feminist, the fact that a lot of women/girls who dress androgynously are called lesbians (which shouldn't be an insult anyway but) and that trope where a woman cop is played for laughs and seen as a joke for being too 'manly' and often gets a makeover by the end of the movie. The patriachy also effects men too though. I don't want to distract from that, it's just by saying that women used to be criticised for wearing pants, you are implying that women aren't also criticised for not performing gender.

I'm so tired of your illusions, rules never change And my mind is so abusive, taking on the shapes When it comes to your love, is it unconditional? When it comes to my love, anything is fixable And all this noise is so relentless I need a second to breath Cause if boys will be boys, we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes Mothers lose their sons and their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Mothers lose their sons and their fathers watch them go I'm no longer taking lessons from those who broke before Now that I am done confessing the words that left me sore When you feel the restless pain As it crawls out of your heart And the thoughts of yesterday bring you the way you are All these voices, that once controlled me can't contain me Cause if boys will be boys, and we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes Mothers lose their sons and their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons and their fathers watch them go Tell me how it feels to win it Has it gone according to your plan? Do you wish that you'd forget it? Or, or to feel less like a human? Boys don't cry, not a man am I Not a day goes by that I've had to like who I was before since I closed that door and it's all white noise that boys must be boys Cause if boys will be boys, and we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes Mothers lose their sons and their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons and their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons and their fathers watch them go

Growing up in a family where gender roles matter, this is very important that it shouldnt matter if you want to act the opposite gender or not. People should be free to be who they want to be, who they want to like, and how they want to dress. I learned that the hard way from getting punished how im supposed to be girly. Growing up with only two older brothers, i didnt grow up very girly, as much as my parents tried. Just be who you want to be, no one should say otherwise🤙🏽💘

So to anyone confused about the message of the song, here is my interpretation: He is more feminine than most guys, and thus is rejected by friends and his father. Also, on a smaller scale, his dad being a homophobe as in: When it comes to your love, is it unconditional? When it comes to my love, anything is fixable And then, for the "feminine" part Mothers lose their sons While their father watch them go The masculinity enforced upon males causes them to drift away from their mothers, and more towards their father. In essence, she loses their sun early, while he gets to watch him grow up. And also Cover for our brothers While we suffer from our own hands A common masculine trait is hiding emotions, so while we help our brothers and keep them out of trouble, etc., and don't let one another cry, we also suffer on the inside, but aren't allowed to express that due to, put bluntly, having a penis. Again, that's just my interpretation of it!

@ethanmann39987 жыл бұрын
Mothers lose their sons While their father watch them go My initial interpretation of this was that the mother is more emotional about their son leaving. The father, as part of the 'masculine' image, just watches his son go and appears to not care too much, while the mother loses their sons, and are greatly emotionally affected by it. Yours seems to make more sense though.

"Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands" I'd like to share my ideas about this. I don't know exactly why I'm posting this in the comments section on KZbin, but I have faith that, given the nature of this video, there are rational thinkers (or at least some respectful people) present. Misogyny hurts men as well as women, which isn't something people talk about all that often. When masculinity is emphasized to the point where crying when a boy breaks a bone is considered "weak". When a boy likes art instead of sports and is called names and bullied for it. When a man is raped and tells someone, only to be told that he's lucky, that he should have enjoyed it. When a trans girl is so pressured by hypermasculinity that she feels like, if she transitioned, she would have an even more difficult time than a trans boy transitioning, which already so difficult, sometimes painfully so. When a boy feels as if he isn't good enough because he doesn't have a six pack. When there are plus sized female models, but rarely do you see plus sized male models. It isn't discussed much because men are the ones causing the problem. But it isn't just men now, in our time. It's centuries upon centuries of hypermasculinity and entitlement and misogyny created by men. Some men. Ideals and religions and governments founded on the base thinking that men are better, that men are more important and more respectable and more capable. A lot of boys are hurt every day by this, and yes, misogyny hurts girls and women much more, kills girls and women much more. Regularly. The statistics are horrifying. But the fact that misogyny hurts men is still there, is still real. Misogyny and a paternalistic world hurt women so much more, it's true. But that doesn't mean for one second that males aren't hurt by it too. It's not as ever-present or as cloying or as terrifying as the discrimination and disrespect women face, but we should acknowledge that everyone is impacted negatively by misogyny, whether we have experienced it or not.

During spirit week at my school my friend (boy) wore a dress for gender bender day. He left class ten minutes before the bell so he could change and his father wouldn’t ‘disown’ him. Boys should do/be what ever they want. I know that those two things don’t go together, but in a sense they do. Women DO WHAT YOU WANT. Men DO WHAT YOU WANT. Why do we shut down people for wanting to be themselves, to love themselves. People are always saying why are you so kept self. Because when you break out and be yourself they judge you and leave you. (Sorry for my rant) End of the day Boys will be Boys and if they don’t like the way that is....... fuck em

But boys have no excuse for saying that they like girl's stuff without being assumed transgender. I really think that's unfair and that boys should have their term of 'tomboy'. I don't want likes I'm just saying what's on my mind. Thank you.

i'm not a boy, but this song speaks to me so much and really opens my eyes to the fact that not just girls are being treated wrongly. discrimination is everywhere and disgusting. raise boys and girls the same way! edit: when i said to raise them the same way, i didn’t mean with things that very obviously can’t be changed between boys and girls. i get there are some differences that can’t be changed and that’s simply human nature. i meant with things like “being ladylike” and boys “being boys” like playing in dirt and stuff. why can’t little girls play with superheroes? why can’t little boys play with barbies? i guess i kinda phrased what i said wrong. i meant more let girls and boys do what they want.

When it comes to my love, anything is fixable And all these noises so relentless I need a second to breathe Cause if boys will be boys We do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And fathers watch them go I'm no longer taking lessons from those who broke before Now that I am done confessing the words have left me sore When you feel the restless pain As it crawls out of your heart And the thoughts of yesterday Bring you to where you are All these voices that once controlled me can't contain me here Cause if boys will be boys And we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And fathers watch them go Tell me how it feels to win it Has it gone according to your plan? Do you wish that you'd forget it or? Or do you feel less like a human? Ooh if boys don't cry not a man am I Not a day goes by that I've had to lie Who I was before Since I closed that door And it's all white noise That boys must be boys Cause if boys will be boys And we do the best that we can Cover for our brothers while we suffer from our own hands Boys will be boys, that's the way that this thing goes When mothers lose their sons And their fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go Fathers watch them go When mothers lose their sons And fathers watch them go

I think he's supposed to be his brother. I don't think he's old enough to be his dad.

I remember when I listened to "Little Game", I thought that he was kinda like the male version of Melanie Martinez because of the similar way they write or create their songs -- they have deeper meanings Until today, I'm so proud :') This song is just so good that I actually began singing along the chorus

Kristal Quindoza same! The songs he puts out have messages that have a clear deeper meaning like Melanie Martinez's songs, and both are inevitably catchy😂 I just hope he doesn't get tired of getting compared to the same artist 24/7. Both are good artists and have their own styles, they just happen to line up with each others

Captain Whiskers Right?? I also noticed that his voice is somehow similar with Troye Sivan's. Nevertheless, he still has originality :)

Kristal Quindoza umm....I was confuses what is this video about?.....love between two men?
@kristalquindoza46037 жыл бұрын
Kind of, but it's more on categorization in the society. For example, people expect men to be strong and manly but that doesn't mean all men have to be like that. There are other men that are sensitive and maybe even feminine but that doesn't mean people should look down on them

I haven't heard this song in so long. I still love it though.

I used to think that Ben couldn't do a song better than Little Game, because it was pure talent. He proved me wrong. Way to go Ben on an amazing song with an amazing message

Today I was doing baby sitting watching one sister her lil brother (respectively 7 & 4 y o ). She likes putting make up on for fun and so does her brother. We were doing so but then their father came in and yelled on his son because "he's a boy and hasn't to learn shuck things for the future" . I really felt bad for him (he was crying then) : he was doing nothing but have fun. It makes me think how toxic are gender roles in general

If Troye Sivan and Melanie Martinez had a kid, this is him.
