Please come back to the drums! You gotta do what you love and we need all the musicians we can get. Whether it’s a small e-kit cuz you live in an apartment building or carving out a space in the garage or basement for the new acoustic kit you’ve always wanted… JUST DO IT. TODAY. It’s unfortunate for us that the instrument we love is so damn big (imagine how easy it would be to be a harmonica player?!? You can fit like 7 in your pocket) but it is what it is. You gotta make music, my friend!

Hi matt. I'm sorry to hear that this is the memory you have of me. Although I don't remember the situation, I wanna offer maybe some context. The thing is, I really try to do right by everyone as much as possible on these clinic tours, and always make a point to have enough time for the signing session afterwards to meet everyone that wants to. However these tours tend to be very hectic especially before the show or in the backstage area, where it is no exception that between set up and sound check I have not enough time to even eat a bite or change my shirt. If then someone just comes to the backstage it's just a fact that sometimes we ask them if we can do that later at the signing session or that for whatever reason it's not the right moment. To be 100% honest.I find it very hard to believe that even in those situations I ever told any nine-year-old kid to just "go away" without saying "sorry I need some time ...can we do this later." But I accept that this is your memory, or that it maybe felt that way.. it was certainly not my intention. I hope this offers some background, and then in our next encounter you'll be able to see me in a different light. I wish you all the best.

Big fan of Jojo Mayer here (10-15 years ago I used to think the guy was the modern answer to the almighty Buddy Rich) but man this kind of show quite saddens me. Ok, I understand he possibly doesn't want to fool around yet for some reason he has to, but he even looks to me no longer "drummerwise fit" to the point he lost his "superpowers". Very sad.
