This kind of channel is actually very helpful for newer runners like myself. I've watched more or less 10 videos on the channel now, none of which is disappointing, more importantly, I now know which pair I should go for next, for my rotation. Thank you.

Thanks for the review. I'd say at £230 this shoe is dead on arrival (DOA) for UK with NB being so greedy. ASICS magic speed 4, superblast 1/2, Saucony endorphin speed/pro are available for less (they are less greedy). Vote with your wallet!

Thank you very much for considering the price in evaluating the shoes. I mean for real, like only someone that actually had to pay for them can do, not like most of youtubers that receive a pair for free (and perhaps change them after only few miles). Yes, they may mention is "a bit pricey", but then end up somehow justifying the cost, only to keep the shoes supply going. If everyone was like you and go "wonderful shoes, but outrageously expensive, don't buy it", then consumers would perhaps turn to other cheaper alternatives, instead of being convinced that spending that much on a single pair of shoes is good for them. Shoe makers would have to cut prices and reposition the shoe in the market. Instead, it seems it's now "normal" and "acceptable" to spend over 200 on a pair of shoes. I'm totally with you. I really value what you're doing. Let's stop this trend of "more expensive = better". Let's make it "more expensive = worse".

Thanks for subsidizing us 'muricans.😂 I have commented on several sites that this shoe looks like my Rebel V4's, 1080 V13 and SC Trainer V2 had a Ménage à trois at a marathon major (pick one). Was I proved right when I finally tried on the V3 yesterday! Not in a good way either. I could tell almost immediately after slipping into it that the foam was a lot stiffer and harder than the V2. Yeah, the outsole would definitely hold up better than my V2. On that note, I have been running for over 42+ years and never had sole wear like I have on the V2. I'm only 63"(1.60m) and 110lbs (50kg). My gut tells me to get another pair of the V2 and the SC Pacer V2.

V1 all day! ❤ I don't like the v2 nearly as much, and that one was already ridiculously overpriced at 230 euro. The SC Elite v4 at 280 is a bit ambitious too, considering that most people see it as a super trainer. New Balance is all over the place with both sizing and pricing.

The idea of a recovery run shoe with a carbon plate is odd. If ever there was a type of running that didn't require a carbon plate, it's that!!
@JeatBunkieАй бұрын
I disagree, in a sense. The plate actually takes a lot of stress away from the muscles, lowering metabolic rate, therefore aiding recovery. I believe that was the initial intended benefit of the carbon plated shoe, to allow runners to train harder and for longer with less recovery time. It seems that has been forgotten and people just simply think ‘speed’. Yes they make you faster… but that’s because they change the ratio of effort exerted over pace.

Great review Ben. You mentioned budget friendly shoes on Strava, I would recommend taking a look at the Gel Pulse 15 by Asics which can be found for way less than the $110 RRP. It's a simple shoe but a huge upgrade over the previous model, now with standard Flytefoam, 35mm stack, 237g (US 9), AHAR+ outsole and no more visible gel. I prefer it over the Cumulus 26 due to the lighter weight and grippier & more durable outsole.

@Maochan81Ай бұрын
Mine arrived today (it was 200 Eur on misterrunning). Had the elite v4, loved the midsole, but i couldn't get a proper lockdown and always had a blister. Luckily NB took it back after 30km. I thought the trainer v3 would be something similar but with better upper. Well, the upper is super comfy, but too narrow and maybe also a tad short. IDK why brands do this. Rebel and Elite have a wide toe box, trainer should be in the middle the comfy one and it's narrow as a racer. And Hoka messed up the heel on Mach x2 and randomly changes the fit of every generation of a shoe.
@HyperOpticalSaintАй бұрын
Both short and narrow means you need to size up, it's actually better than just narrow. It's also available in 2E so get half size up AND 2E, maybe that would be both long and wide enough for you?

Was so sad to have patiently waited and ordered the V3’s to find I couldn’t get a comfortable lockdown with these due to my narrow and tall volume feet. Had to size up a half size as they fit short too. Had to cinch down so tightly to keep heel from lifting that it caused to much pain, so had to return the V3’s for the Superblast 2 which fit like a glove. The V3’s felt soft and bouncy but a little clunky
@annekafrench7120Ай бұрын
I prefer V2. Nicer ride
@AndreasKriswanto1989Ай бұрын
As much as I like V2 for its versatility (easy, tempo & long runs), I don’t think an upgrade to V3 will be necessary in my case. I hate to say that after some 500k the energy return was no longer there for speed workout but the foam is also too soft for easy run. At this price point, the economy value doesn’t justify the buy considering the alternatives available like you just mentioned. I found it weird while Asics decreased the price of SB2 to 260CAD, NB has aggressively tried to match it to 250CAD. For me it’s no brainer to add $10 and get myself SB2. Just my two cents 😊

@jnorthingtonjrАй бұрын
I thought the Rebel v4 + plate was basically the SC Elite v4?
@ABuccАй бұрын
I think everyone that is considering to buy this shoe should just buy the SC Elite V4. It's basically the same shoe as the SC Trainer V3, but lighter. They were saying on the reviews for the SC Elite V4, that it is more suitable for a trainer, than a racer.
@jtsholtod.79Ай бұрын
Absolutely a bafflingly bad price deal in the UK. A pretty good deal in the US if you're in the small group of people looking for exactly this type of shoe. However, it's a very different fit to the Rebel that I also use, and not what I consider to be particularly light. I've done three 50k+ training runs in the SC Trainer v3s, and they're fantastic on the longer runs (gained about 3% efficiency over my other distance trainers) aside from the gnarly blisters the tapered toe gave just my left foot (and I never get blisters). Point being, find your fit, both size AND width, as they might not be quite true to size in all aspects.

This is good info! I know this is a dumb question, but how are they just walking around? I’m 6’3” 200lbs and I mainly walk but jog every once in a while. I know they’re overkill for my need, but I love the way they look 🤣 I have the Rebel V4s and love them, but looking for a little more cushion and I’d love your thoughts.
@jtsholtod.79Ай бұрын
@@BuenoReviews If you're looking for a little more cushion, I would actually probably not recommend the SC Trainer V3s. Although they have more foam and stack height, the plate actually makes them a bit stiffer than the Rebel. They kind of have an ideal running "zone" where they hum along feeling plush and responsive. Plus the upper is tighter for more of a race fit compared to the Rebel, so I think for walking and walk-run there are more versatile options. Have you looked into the new NB Balos or More V5? I think they would both give you better cushion and comfort. They're in the Fresh Foam line as opposed to the Fuel Cell line (I wouldn't care about that, it should be about feel, not pseudo foam technology), but they're plateless and more forgiving at different speeds. More V5 is cheaper, but Balos is more expensive, compared to the SC Trainers. There is another KZbinr named Kofuzi to check out who does great shoe reviews, but he also details where a shoe fits into a brand's lineup which really helps to align with one's needs. Good luck!

@@jtsholtod.79 thanks you so much for all of this! I have really flexible arches so max cushion shoes often fatigue my feet when walking. I specially in my toes. That’s why the rebel is so nice to me! The responsive foam is great for my feet. I’m just looking for a good second pair with a little more of a plush feeling. Not by much. and was hoping the SC trainer v3 might be it, but it sounds like it won’t be. Cheers man!
@jtsholtod.79Ай бұрын
@@BuenoReviews The Rebel is a unicorn, and I love it. It's also much lighter feeling than anything else they have for daily training. I hope NB doesn't screw it up in the next version, but they love to tinker with good things. I would still recommend you look at Balos and More because I find even the more "max" cushioned shoes are different from the "max" versions of a few years ago. They actually feel firmer and purpose-built now, rather than squidgy and unsupported. NB are generally highly regarded for arch support, so their other shoes may offer you a decent ride.

What kind of footstrike do you have and does it change to a more forefoot strike when you run faster. I naturally forefoot at any pace and even running slow I feel the springiness of the B12 energy rods in the forefoot giving me a very smooth propulsion foward. I'm also 215 lbs which probably gives me advantage when pushing down on those rods thereby getting the most spring out of them.
