Fitting a stairgate in an awkward gap using a dreambaby gate adaptor panel and a Lindam safety gate

In this video Ben fits a Lindam pressure fit stairgate upstairs but because he has an awkward gap to fill with a round bannister on one side he has to use an adaptor kit to create a flat surface on one side and on the other side he has to increase the height of the skirting board by creating a custom wooden extension block for the pressure fit stairgate to push against.

WARNING! Lots of things wrong with this installation which are dangerous. One a pressure stair gate should not be used at the top of the stairs it needs to be a fixed one. These also have a bar at the bottom which is a trip hazzard. The door shouldn’t open into the stairs! So dangerous you should remove this video and stop giving bad information to others. If you had read the instructions you would have known this. To add you should have put a block of wood on the wall on the top as well as the bottom to level The wall off. All You have done here is made the gap wider and the tension weaker - making this even easier for the whole gate to fall through! Shocking!

I would not recommend fitting this stairgate on the top of stairs it's a trip hazard

Yeah the problem is we don't really have anywhere else to put it and it means Eloise has free roam of the top floor of our house when it's shut

@@BenPaton81 The problem with the pressure-type is that they have a bar at the bottom, which is a trip hazard at the top of the stairs; less of an issue at the bottom. A better option for the top of the stairs is the type that require brackets to be affixed to the wall/banister on each side. For those situations where you absolutely cannot mark the walls (e.g. rental) then a pressure-type for each upstairs room where the child will spend time is an option, if a bit expensive. Not knocking your work, just making other viewers aware.
