That's the main problem with that bottling series imho, the 50 cl vs. price level. I rarely end up thinking "that's a fair price for a 50 cl bottle" when looking at a "That Boutique-y" bottle... so always end up deciding against buying and looking in other directions instead. I don't, however, buy from auctions, but maybe I should consider doing so with the bargain that you seem to be able to find there. Benrinnes... lovely distilate, I really love the character and prefer it from a bourbon cask to let it really shine through, even though it works very well in sherry casks too. Yeah, I don't really understand the marketing strategy from them. The bottles only seem to sell due to the funky labels. Now, this has proven to work for a few bottlers, but it's a tough market - especially when you bottle 50cl. I wouldn't be surprised if that is why they have went with the more basic look, 70cl bottles, and more reasonable prices (with the MoM bottles). You should explore the auctions from time-to-time. One of my friends almost exclusively buys from auction and he gets some bargains! Cheers.

I wonder where/when you saw it priced at £70 - mine was less than that retail including postage and packing... I do rather like it, so I'm glad you cast your deciding vote that way!

Ah really? I can't remember when I saw it at that price, it wasn't £70 on the nose but about £68, if I remember correctly. Aye, I quite enjoy it 👍

It's a distillery that deserves more attention, but I'm glad it flies under the radar 😅 great whisky style, cheers

I'm curious if you drink other spirits i.e. rum brandy agave spirits?

I was drinking a lot of tequila/mezcal recently as I was in Mexico. I had Don Julio 70, Don Julio Reposado, 1800 reposado, and Bruxo 5 - all quite good. I have been getting into rum more, one of my last reviews was on a rum. It is something I am actively looking to try more. I haven't drunk many brandy spirits, but I enjoy a port from time-to-time.
