I really really like them. They’ve held up great so far and I feel very secure on my way up and down the tree. I’d also give them a 9/10 for packability and storage, I love the fact that they nest into each other so well!

I like novis double step sticks but there heavy. Dan at Beast Gear I think has the best sticks. I have the skeletors but I only weighed like 150.

Yeah, I haven’t had any problems since getting the replacements and I’m 230! I know beast sticks are light, but they’re also the only other stick I’ve heard of with bending standoffs (I think maybe urban bow hunter talked about it in a stick comparison video?)

I got my sticks right around Christmas last year and haven't used them yet. I watched this video and decided to email tethrd. Told them I had a set of 4 and asked if they could send me 4 updated standoffs because I was worried. The next day they replied and as you stated, they agreed to send me 4 new ones. No questions asked, no order number or anything. They were at my door in 3 days in PA. Awesome company and thank you for making this video to urge me to do it.

@@CoveringGround I got my sticks today and they have the 7/64" old stand-offs. They said they only plan on replacing them with the new ones when someone has an issue. I do wonder if weight has anything to do with it. The Tethrd rep said the common issue was not following specific instructions, but you did, so I wonder if it can be the weight of the hunter.

Same exact story here. I waited all day for them to open the orders. Kept checking the website to make aure I got them. Got my sticks early December. Super happy. Went on a hunt, all was good. Didn't notice until a couple weeks later that I had a bent standoff. Shot them an email, had a whole new stick within a couple days. Love tethrd

Very helpful video. I’m about to purchase a set. Doing the research on them this was a huge concern. This seemed like a 2021 season issue - every stick now should come with the upgraded bottom stand-off. I would think they’d do that instead of the replacement after failure to avoid litigation (on a design defect they know to cause failures). Thanks for the video showing the difference so I know what to look for

Absolutely! And I’d tend to agree, seems like this is an issue of the past now. I have a friend who got sticks towards the end of July and they came with the updated standoffs. Thanks for watching - good luck this season!

Thanks for sharing!! This is another reason why I went with Tethrd too. I just got into saddle hunting and I too researched and researched for days. So glad I went with Tethrd not only have I been impressed with the quality but the customer service is second to none! That’s a bummer, but glad you’re on the mend! And awesome about the sale, that’s a good snag for sure! I actually had to do PT for a shoulder injury (from 2013) back at the end of 2020 when I was just getting into bow hunting, so I know what it’s like doing the work and waiting for the payoff! Others have had issues and Tethrd will only send replacements for bent stand offs under warranty. They won’t even sell you the upgraded ones. They are currently out of stock of the sticks and stand offs.

That’s super strange - I did have one bend, but they were able to send me 4 replacements when I talked to them a couple weeks ago.

Nice video I purchased my sticks at an outdoor show and tethered actually reached out to me and are sending replaced standoffs! Never even inquired about the replacements . Guess they are being proactive now! Nice retractable aiders also!

Wow, thanks for the kind words Greg! And yeah I think it’s really easy to focus on a problem but a lot more beneficial to focus on the solution. We’ll work on those booner pics haha, wanna make the tethrd 10! This was the first year bow hunting for all three of us. I was lucky enough to get my first bow deer (a doe on public) to break the seal so next year there’s no stopping us. Like I mentioned in the video, I switched from a sit and climb to a saddle for next year, went with the phantom and can’t wait to get back out there!

I got a set at the Black Friday sale price,but it was basically the second shipment on them..broke my thumb and ended my season w/o being able to use them.. hopefully I've got the upgraded standoffs..I'm sure if I have this problem,I'll have zero issues getting them replaced..Tethrd has been awesome with things I've reached out to them about 👍👍

After viewing this video and others, I called tethrd and voiced my concern over the intermittent failure mode of the standoffs. In fact, I thought the wall thickness of the standoffs looked thin when I received them. Anyway, tethrd customer serviced told me that they would only send me replacement standoffs when I experienced a failure. Honestly, if these sticks are for run and gun, I can't risk a failure in the field. Sending them back.

Yeah I could definitely understand your frustration. I mentioned this to someone else too, I wonder if the issue is that there are a couple of lemons because of the lightweight low margin design and it’s one of those things where if they do bend, it’s going to happen pretty quick. Just a thigh if (like me) you were disappointed but still want to use the sticks for their other great features. I also read on saddlehunter someone asked if they could grind a bevel into the bottom side of the bottom standoff without voiding the warranty and they said he could do it. Just another thought if you’re looking for options! I would think that the sticks should have the upgraded standoffs upper and lower. Also, when did they do the upgrade. I just got the skeletors a week ago and they have the original standoffs?

As I understand it they received the shipment of replacement standoffs about two weeks ago. I don’t know if they’re planning to swap them out for future orders, but if you’d like you can call them and they’ll send replacements! Also, I thought the same thing at first about needing to replace both standoffs, but they had only received reports of the bottom standoff bending, so that’s what they focused on fixing. I’m speculating at this point, but I would guess it’s a weight distribution thing because of where the stick attachment point is.

That’s a bummer! I would definitely recommend reaching out to tethrd in the morning to get a replacement set so you can update all 4 standoffs. I really like the features these sticks offer, so I’m glad they fixed the one issue people seem to be having!

Tethrd have agreed to send me a set of redesigned lower standoffs that have the bevelled edges and thicker sidewalls. I'm happy with that. Received the longer Dynaloc mounting bolts last week and have already replaced those. Easy/quick replacement.
