This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!

But when it gets to the art of creating joints and how and when to use them this book really starts to teach you something. At least that was my experience.

This is NOT a book for a beginner! DON'T FALL FOR Ted’s 16,000 Woodworking Plans SCAM! What do you get if you do buy it? The content package is far smaller than advertised and consists of outdated plans ripped off of public and private sources. There’s no customer service, and it can be hard to get your money back. Additionally, the projects and plans aren’t vetted, with reviews complaining about poor quality. There are KZbin reviews peddling these plans, often with FAKE USER ACCOUNTS or bots contributing comment reviews and fake testimonials to further encourage buyers. I got SCAMMED by this. Please learn from my mistake!

​@ChaseKayzer because these older generations have been doing things the same way for 30 odd years and a younger person comes along and tries to innovate design wise, the older generation then go there's absolutely no way it'll work because again for 30 years they've done everything the same way cause it works. All just comes down to stubbornness really and maybe a slight bit of envy for the fact they didn't try to innovate themselves. Don't get me wrong the old pros are great to learn the necessary steps to create a solid foundation though, just take a bit of creativity and easy access to the Internet for us younger generations have made inspiration much easier to find

Ive been a custom woodworker for 30 years, staying up to date with the latest tools in the trade and always looking for a way to improve the way i build. there are soooo many idiots who think they have what it takes to tell people how to build stuff on a you tube channel, usually i laugh at them and their primitive way of building. but not this time, you are intelligent and efficient. i say that because i built three of those tables about ten years ago in my garage!!!

something about 300 and 25 mm but to make it work in somewhere not-USA you maybe should try to find similar sized parts in more typical sizes... 2" x 4" would be something like 51 x 102 mm but here in Germany it's easier to get 40/60 x 80 or 60 x 100 mm 🤷 so I sometimes think about making a table of typical metric lumber with similar strengths then those imperial sizes 🤔 but maybe there is one and I just haven't found it yet 🤷

As a US citizen, it's difficult to argue that the metric system is definitely superior. The problem is noone around here thinks in metric, so you have to know both. I would petition for a shift to logical measuring standards, for sure!

Super simple builds with tons of modification potential. I built 4 of these over the weekend and they came out great. So great that I built 2 2x2 versions at lower heights to accommodate my miter saw and table saw. Any of my benches can now be an infeed or outfeed table for my saws. I selectively added the 3/4 bolt holes to the bottoms of the 2x2's and some of my 2x4 benches so I can add the 2x2's to the configurable bench mess. I'll be spending the next year reconfiguring the bottoms of theses benches to hold organizer boxes and tools! Thanks for saving me for the giant 4x8 rolling battleship bench Ben!

I have two workbenches in my very small shop (a converted 8'x16' carport) very similar to yours. They're identical and both on casters. Originally they we were open but I've since added a drawer unit and shelf to one, and a pullout shelf/tray to the other. I enclose both and added doors to keep dust out. They're the workhorses of my shop. I've also used them as trolly carts for lumber deliveries, and platforms for standing on to reach overhead storage items. As you so perfectly illustrate, the versatility of these kinds of workbenches is endless, and so useful. Thanks for the great video.

Saved me a ton of pain. So i have this place being made availale to me to setup my workshop ...its tiny ... and i may be asked to vacate pretty much anytime .. Wow, excellent. I may have the bodily issues that are unique problems, but over time, I found that the L-shaped desk is very useful if I'm sitting down. I'm not that tall (6'1"), but when I stand and work on a 30" inch desk, my back gets achy. The solution may be a custom build with maybe 40" inches height.

This is the perfect solution for my new 12x13’ shop. I’m going to make one for my dewalt table saw and another for my miter saw. This way, they can be pushed against the wall when they are not use and then brought together in the middle of room to make an out feed table or whatever else I need.

Ben these are great mod tables and beyond easy to build. Appreciate greatly the thorough visual instructions, they're super helpful and well done to boot. I actually first just followed your video and it was all I needed to make these tables. I started w two tables and finished them up in about two hours, and I'm in the middle of doing some personal customizations to the tables to make them more user-friendly for specific things i'm using on those tables (table and chop saw stuff, belt sander, etc) When I finished them I was beyond pleased w the results, and am building a couple for my daughter's sewing/quilting room projects and she loves the versatility. Your skill and ability to convey what's needed and how then to use it all is WELL worth the $15 for the plans and anyone who builds one of these by following your instructions should send you $15. if they don't, "may the fleas of a thousand camels invade their pubic areas!" And one final word of encouragement and appreciation my young entrepreneur friend, I would have paid $20, so don't ever underestimate your worth again moving forward, Ben. You bring a LOT to the table, no pun intended, and you should be compensated appropriately for that expertise. My $15 was well spent, thank you.

Yeah this is good. I'm a disabled vet and do leather work currently for therapy and gift giving. I'm needing a workbench and the flexibility of these are good. I would probably do the french cleat and attach some magnets. Most of all my tools I like to put them on magnets for accessibility.

I like the idea of this so much. I think I now have a direction to go for my workspace in the coming year! I currently have a few various sizes and shapes of workbenches, but it seems like it'd be really nice to streamline them. Make one shorter and mount my little contractor table saw on it so the top is flush with the normal height. Others can be ganged together as outfeed tables. Set up one with my shop vac and dust separator on the bottom shelf. Heck, maybe even a miter saw one with the saw set lower. Then I could gang together two or three as needed for long miter cut pieces! Moving things around that often, I might have to look into a quicker-to-use method of joining them. Bolting would be great when they're going to be joined for awhile, but moving them around a bunch, it might get cumbersome. Thanks for sharing this! Elegance in simplicity!

Well done! I just built three of these for my garage at our house in town. Used left over treated 2x4s from an old deck for a pool I had to take down. Little bit twisted, and took a few more minutes to square up compared to new wood. Now to build out some shelves in them and bolt two together for an “L” shaped bench and one for a work table. I did use 5/8” plywood and it’s very strong. Bought your plans and will buy more!

I made one of these today. I'm a little taller so I made the legs 32in each .... All said and done it is 37in off the ground and works great!!! For a novice it only took me about 1.5 hours to do and a wonderful upgrade to my garage

I built very similar modular work benches. Instead of holes and bolts to attach them I used adjustable latch clamps. If you are going to be moving them around a lot this is very convenient. I like the bottom tray concept you used as mine only have a center shelf.

I really like the hole solution for connecting the benches. I've liked this style of modularity for a while(2x4 technology from Codename: Kids Next Door). Eye level racks could be added on the back using the holes for storage, tools or whatever.

I copied your "big ol' workbench" when I was first setting up shop in my 2-car garage a couple years ago. Within 6 months or so, I found it much too big for the space, broke it down, and turned it into 2 smaller workbenches. They still feel too big though, I think I might now copy you again and go with some of these. I'll probably also make a custom one that's the same footprint but has a lower shelf for my table saw to sit. Good ideas as always Ben, thanks!
