You do got this. Hopefully your already done. Hardest thing for most of us is over thinking stuff. I barely started this video right after I just built my larger assembly table for a smaller one car garage type area. Where can I put this or this? Specially on first build or first concept idea, just do it! You may make a new one later but you didn’t lose anything bc you gained a ton of knowledge. Heck, I have a rolling bathroom cabinet in my garage now that works for now as a mitre saw table. Minimal extras needed. Just do it. Don’t look back.

I built cabinets in a dewalt loyal shop for years and when I got laid off I bought the Hercules radial arm saw biggest one they had out of desperation. I would pit that and the orbital sander and any other Hercules tool I’ve bought against a dewalt any day at 1/3 the price. The only thing I haven’t been impressed with is the durability of the consumables (sandpaper etc) but the tools themselves are solid.

Been playing with wood for years. I've gone from a single car garage with a concrete floor that was hand mixed and very rough (by a previous owner) to a nice two car garage, to a 24ft by 38ft shop, to my now 40ft by 72ft shop. I built a large table with cabinet under an adjustable top that serves as an assembly table as well as an outfeed table. It has slots to match my 10 inch table saw's miter slots as well as my 12 inch table saw miter slots. And, I built an infeed table as well that has a maple top, is drilled for 3/4 inch dogs and two wood vise. All my power equipment with the exception of my 10 inch table saw were my father's and even though they are old love using them!

I have been using 4 separate 2' x 4' benches for a good while. So handy for all the adjustability as you mentioned! I never thought of hinging but I don't think I have the space to swing. I like the 3' idea for reachability but again I don't think I can work it into my space. You have inspired the thought of a swing up 1' shelf on 1 or 2 of the 2' x 4' benches. I have a problem with my floor being irregular so I have a supply of shims and wedges to level up as required for each set up. It is sort of a pain but I generally will leave an arrangement of benches set up for a good while. I will also clamp up the benches from the underside either directly or with blocks between to make clearance for the track saw blade. The system works great for my small space. You are my kind of thinker, I will subscribe and look forward to more of your ideas. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you! Thanks for the full detailed explanation without having to buy plans. I built this and it's pretty amazing!

Catawampus is fun to type and say! About 5 years ago I went on a deep-dive to find the "best" workbench and most of those videos involve hundreds of hours of really fancy dovetails and crazy vises and bells and whistles. I remember looking for something EXACTLY like this. I agree this is the best work bench because it is simple and it works and you can adapt it to your needs. I will be using this design for my next workshop when I move next year this is the first project on the list (after I pour the concrete floors cause I don't think the castors would work in the dirt.) Thank you for sharing all that you do. Your channel is one of the few that feels legitimately like its sole purpose is to help people that want to make projects (and make money selling projects)

Yo Matthew, harbor freight does makes some pneumatic swivel casters that might work pretty good in dirt in case you are interested. Pricey though. Cheers.

Slick design and is versatile. They can also be fitted out with cabinets or draws under to top for storage.

CATAWAMPUS! Love this design. I have a small shed I work out of and this table is just what I needed. Thanks for all the help you give me. 😊

It's funny because I'm from Pennsylvania, and my dad, a carpenter by trade, has always used the word catawampus. I never would've guessed it was a southern slang word til I saw this video. Cool work bench by the way. Super simple, yet super unique and handy! You've inspired me!

Catawampus! From Perth, Western Australia and this table build came at exactly the right time for me as I’m just setting up my workshop. Thanks for your channel and how you don’t try to be to fancy for us novices. 👍🏻👍🏻

Love this workbench idea. Transforms to create the necessary flow cell for the work being done.

Cadiwampus would describe most of my projects! I love this bench and it will be my next build for the garage shop as it solves all my space issues and needs. Thank you so much

My catawampus garage is small but after seeing this, I plan on building it in 4 small sections that can be used as a work bench along the walls to keep the floor space open and connected together when I need a large work space. Initially I was planning on building mounted work benches along the walls but this seems far more versatile. Great video!

Totally understand catawampus. I am about to build a work bench for my new location in Ohio (hi neighbor) and shop and have looked at others bench examples. Your presentation was so clear (accent no issue) and the bench so versatile and exactly what I needed.

Matthew , Catawampus best describes many a project built in My garage. But I do also build quite a few that turn out almost perfect ! You and I could see a flaw, but most cannot ! I love Your channel, and like it that You take the extra time to explain in some length, the tools that You use, and explain why You choose them over a different tool. Keep up the Great content Brother. 69 year old retired Residential Carpenter and Commercial Field Engineer , living in Berea Ky.

You just came across my feed. I've never seen your videos before but I love the idea and versatility of this bench. I can totally see that with doors and or drawers for more storage options. I love the Idea and appreciate you sharing it with the world.

Love the design. Will probably do something like this for my shed.

Sometimes the more simple the project the more functional it is. That's a great workbench that can easily be moved around, and even transported to different locations since it breaks down into smaller sections, something you probably wouldn't want to do or couldn't do with a much longer workbench. May have to build one of these when I get my shop floor done.

Catawampus, love the build. I have a relatively small shop and find I would like different size tables for different projects. This is the answer. Thank you.
