This is the era of cars and truck I love the most. Now that your “Frankenstein-ing” together something to resemble a home made 1920’s era car is absolutely amazing. Now I really want to build something like that.

Mate, I was puckering when the whole lot started tipping. I recon by the time you pack some washers between the chassis and the engine at the mounting points, then bolt it down, that chassis will never flex again. I can't wait to see what comes next on this. Keep up the great work!!
@thephilpott2194Ай бұрын
In the immortal words of Father Dougal Maguire:- 'Ted...i'm scared'. This does smell a bit fubar, but i do hope you succeed, don't get hurt, and the thing runs under it's own steam. I'd go mental on reinforcing the chassis on the basis that this is more straightforward than repairing the cracks. Best of luck, and please get on Dom Chinea's back- he needs to get stripping down his V12.

I think a "Bentley" style tensioned under chassis might be a good idea to help hold up that massive engine. I also think you might not even need a gearbox with this, fit a very large torque converter and allow it to just chug along.

It's all ready been mentioned but I would spend some time with a lot of very heavy steel reinforcement as the engine looks like it could drop through the "frame" at any moment. I would put a huge turbo on this as I suspect the standard power delivery would be very low rpm so any road work will be a struggle for this at the moment as it is. Great fun all round 👍.... Best get it finished before the car hateing government banns everyone with a historic vehicle

Got a question, as you've had to cut the forward cross member and the engine bed is now down in the chassis rails, is there any advantage in sliding the engine further forward to put more weight over the front wheels maybe to improve the steering and braking?
@vintagebentleyАй бұрын
Yes, that’s what we’re aiming for, it’s just such a heavy lump, it takes some thinking about, I don’t want to use these horrible truck wheels, I have some 23” wire wheels to use so I think I need to keep a more centralised position, but I get what you’re saying. Time will tell as the project moves along.

@viliusr6974Ай бұрын
My kind of maddness :) Why not to just sprit the chassis and widen it? Butchering out so much would definitely affect the stiffness of the beams. I guess we will see that once the engine starts twisting that chassis from the torque.
@vintagebentleyАй бұрын
We’re only in the early stages, this is all mocking up, once we know where we’re going then the strength and under carriage crossmembers will be made.

Removing one third of frame rail right where the weight is bearing the most. And looks as if overlap of engine on lower frame flange seems rather narrow.
