I learned so much in the progress of making this video! And in the posting of this video I learned I can't pronounce 'jaguar' correctly🤦♀🤷♀ Oops! There's a good chance I will never have to pronounce it again on this channel but at least I have gotten 'awl' down now!😄

Oh my dear, I am right there with you! I am from Maine, northeast USA and we say jaguar like jagwahhhhh, nobody understands us and that’s ok with us! We apologize to everybody all the time, but nobody understands our speech up here. It’s all relative.

@Susan Jenssen I love to hear different US accents and locally used terms! Most of my educational years were in the midwest and then I finished up highschool and went to college in the south. I think this made my accent pretty neutral however random sounds and vowel pronunciations pop up every now and then and who know where they are from😄

Hey Vet Tech here... so the heart is actually very central in the chest, however it does hang a little more off to the side. It's easiest to access it if we take off the sternum because that is connected to the ribs by cartilage. There are different types of heart/chest surgery and taking off the sternum is much gentler (The healing time is quicker and easier) than cracking open the ribs. The scene with the shot of adrenaline in Pulp Fiction always bothers me, because he was a little too off and probably would have missed the heart or just grazed the heart... plus a myriad of other issues.
@DanceswithDustBunnies2 жыл бұрын
A friend of mine recently had open heart surgery to correct a birth defect. They had to "crack" the ribs and literally open the ribcage like opening an old-fashioned coin purse, so the wide, central opening absolutely makes sense. I'm wondering if the scene in Dr Strange has the needle too far to the left, too.
@sarahmccollum36942 жыл бұрын
That scene was meant to be awkward and inaccurate. It gave me pause too and I know almost nothing about medical procedures but I thought it looked off too. Great acting, for sure, that's why it worked. Thanks, Ladyofdeath.

I was just going to say this as my husband just went through this, and in his words (OMG this hurts like hell) so if they went through the ribs it would have been worst I know I have broken my ribs twice and sneezing is the worst thing on this planet let alone having a coughing fits or even laughing.

The make up artists and costumers did such a great job telling a story with each character just by looking at them! I think that is what has made them so fun to create. If they all looked normal like Adam and Barbara and had to 'story' they would not have been near as fun to make!

I do so love your fraggle rock shirt! the reason it's in the centre is because they have to pry the ribs apart first to access the heart. My dad had a triple bypass done last year and that's exactly what happened. what a unique and awesome dolls you made. I love the Shaman!

Oh, for heart surgery guy, your story reminded me of something I read years ago and would make (I think) a good addition to your self surgery story. Real life Russian surgeon Dr. Leonid Rogozov performed appendix surgery on himself. He was the only medical doctor on a research station in Antarctic in 1961 when he developed appendicitis. He lived and became a bit of a hero in Russia. Dr. Heart heard the story and wanted his share of the spotlight by attempts self performed open heart surgery. Obviously, his self surgery didn’t go well. The new inhabitants of the waitstaff room are amazing! I am so looking forever to Miss. Argentina.
@BentleyHouseMinis2 жыл бұрын
That was one of the stories I read too when I was researching and I was blown away! Exactly.... the pride of Dr. Heart was his down fall. I think self-surgery makes more sense when its literally the ONLY option to save your life... otherwise that's not a great idea! Thank you!
@SusanYeske7012 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's why they don't let you do that kind of research mission in Antarctica unless you have your appendix out. No one wants a repeat that might have a more tragic outcome.

I love the way that you made the Shaman's grass skirt and neck ornament out of tassel trim. It really looks believable (the little pouch and the Jaguar head are both super cool). I love your explanation for the shaman. It could have been a simple translation issue. The hunter said, “I’ll give you the shotgun, and you’ll give me a shrunken head.” And the shaman said, “That’s an odd request, but ok.” and gave the hunter a shrunken head. It just happened to be his own.

All I can say is WOW! Another fun and fabulous creation. BTW, if you ever need to make another cap like the one for the heart patient, or create a cap with a gathered crown, the key is to cut a circle and stitch around the edge. I can see that you sort of did that anyway. It's the circle that creates the "poof" around the head.
