Depending on how the model attic town is to be viewed, a few of the slightly under-sized houses could be positioned towards the background. This will create a forced perspective and make the model of a model seem larger than it is. The same goes for cars, people, and other scenic items. As for the over-sized houses, they can be used in some other way.
@BentleyHouseMinis3 жыл бұрын
That's such an interesting idea! I imagined it being viewed from the side but I will have to wait to make a final call once the attic is built! Great idea to keep in mind!
@thomaslevy21193 жыл бұрын
@@BentleyHouseMinis In the model railroad world, forced perspective has been used to make layouts seem larger. For example, a modeler might use HO scale (1:87) trains and scenic items in the foreground and N scale (1:160) trains and items in the background, or O scale (1:48) in the foreground and HO scale in the background.

Nailed it as always! I've never seen Beetlejuice but your descriptions are enticing me, lol. I will gladly tell a spooky story but I won't watch one, lol! I also forgot to tell you that they used our house to film part of an adult themed horror movie called "Son" in February immediately prior to COVID in March. Needless to say the release and the hype for it were stalled but it stars Emile Hirsch and Andi Matichak. I haven't even watched the one that was filmed in my own home!! You can see a few outside shots of my late Victorian as well as the inside (although they made a lot of design changes for the film). I think I will add this comedy horror to my play list though... :-) Great job as always. Love and hugs

Another wonderful video, Ara! It’s so helpful that you explain why you make something in a certain way or in a particular order. Gluing the bowls to the placemats so they won’t topple is such a clever idea! Rather than remaking the bowls and transferring the hands for the 'little yellow sticky-out things', I would line up straight pins 📍 on wood or styrofoam and dip them in your yellow fever paint. Once dry, they could be clipped to size and added to the existing bowls... maybe drilling small holes first for extra strength. Thank you for another fun and informative half hour! 🤗

The table looks just like in the movie 🤩 wow and the shrimp fingers are indeed amazing 😍 great idea to use the glass roller maybe, to save yourself the struggle you could have coverd it with that putty so it could go into the oven with the Shrimps sculpted ontop of the putty and then you could have cut it from the Roller to get the Shrimps savely off of it. But it still went well enough the way you did it 🤗

Before I watch rest... when I saw you using the Kato I was like ohhhh no its not gonna do what you want it to HAHA... You could have filled the mold with hot glue to clean out the "fingers".. You could even use hot glue in those molds to make the hands if you wanted to. But you could definitely use some scrap clay and just press it into the mold and it would have probably turned out way better than the liquid clay. The only reason I knew the liquid clay wasn't going to work, was because I tried making liquid clay angels before LOL it didn't work out the way I wanted it to, it was far to crumbly.

Perfect for Halloween! The table is just right...and so is your phone, lol. The way you made the hands is a great technique. I can see the bowl technique being used to make urns for mini plants with the stone finish like you used for the table. The liquid polymer might need a drop or two of polymer liquid conditioner, if you have any around. Although, if you have little chunks in it like you mentioned it might be that it's starting to separate beyond recovery. If it was in too warm a place, it might have started to cure in the bottle. If it's old, sometimes it settles so much it just loses the polymers and can't be reconditioned. All the Halloween treats you collected...and that's because you're such a good girl! I started to pick out favorites but it soon became impossible. Houses are so charming. I think what Thomas Levy suggested would be great and also your shelving idea. I'm sure Adam collects mini houses whether they fit into the town or not and that many more will come your way. The folks who made the Beetlejuice doll, box, earrings all of the "extras"...wow! You folks are an awesome inspiration! Can't wait for the next one.
@BentleyHouseMinis3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tips on the liquid polymer. It is SUPER old so that definitely could have been part of the problem. I think it even when through a move with me so I can't guarantee its been in the A/C its whole life. Probably time to invest in some new! I really like Thomas' idea as well and I can't wait to get to the attic!

The liquid polymer clay... a few things come to mind (mind you, I've little actual experience with it, personally!)... it's actually used as a GLUE to bind two pieces of soft or partly/all) baked polymer clay to another piece of clay, either baked or not. Usually unbaked, though. Also to add resin pieces to the clay. Not a glue in traditional sense, but more like... slip for traditional clay. It just helps two seperate lieces blend & smooth together & become one way better than application of water (or rubbing alcohol in the polymer clay) would, cus it contains finely ground particals of dried clay in it (the traditional 'slip' does, the polymer clay version? No idea). Basically, by itself - even baked into a chunk, its never going to be sturdy enough. The other thought I had could be temperature, but tbh, I really think its the 1st issue. Ok, back to video... loving the table & can't wait to see your creative process to get those hands working out the way you want! Edit 1: Ok, the shrimp hands are AMAZING. Honestly, I think I like them better this way than the original way you were going! Kudos! Btw, if you try something similar, i.e., basically inserting baked clay into unbaked clay, dip the end of the baked clay into a drop of the liquid clay to harden it in place inside. Adding a bit after is a good idea as well. Having it inside ensures the two pieces are bonded after baking - there should be little to no wobble, even without that extra glue outside (but that extra bit wouldn't hurt at all, for sure - only add that extra stability! I just know my own luck... those danged fingers would still wiggle and fall out with just external application. I call myself an "over-gluer" lol [I'd do both internal/external]- can always remove extra, but adding more can be a right pit....b) Ok... on with the show. Hubs is getting frustrated cus I keep pausing ;) Edit 2: Last edit, I hope lol. Omg, Ara... AMAZING. You seriously keep making my jaw drop, time after time. That table... the larger drops of base gray paint actually added to the realism... not all granite speckles are uniformish in size. The shine the resin gave... chef's kiss. Then the shrimp... woah. Creepy hands, super-realistuc x-tra jumbo shrimp. I giggled when I saw the ones sent to you, cus... umm, well, timing lol. Those look amazing, too. So very many talented people! This house is going to be another masterpiece & I bet the museum will be hoping to host it, too! Blessings to you & yours, and have a safe & fun-filled Halloween!

Thank you so much Abigail! I think you are right about why the liquid clay fell apart. It did seem to crumble just like they were little specs of clay that really didn't hold onto each other. It was a toss up idea that I wasn't sure would work or not but I am always glad to find ways that don't work so I don't waste time with them again in the future. I am so glad you liked how everything came together in the end!😊
