people dont realize that way back in the late 70s/early 80s Kazumi was teaching kids like eddy van halen in the US to shred, rake, sweep, tap, reverse reverb efx etc. l remember hearing 'All Beats are Coming' when it came out and talking to all my fusion player friends at NTSU about him. We had meetings with pat metheny and Lyle Mays then and l remember students asking about him and comparing Pat's 'Left Turn' to Kazumi.

Seriously, I didn't know that. This guy is therefore an underrated ICON! I knew his music for years, but I never thought he had trained the great Eddy Van Halen! Wow!!!!

The vibe solo man, it's been a while since I've really felt every single note of a solo as much as that one there. What he does at 7:08 is masterful. I got into kazumi 2 years ago but didn't dig much deeper. Now I'm realizing so much of what he does and has done is very high quality and he works with a ton of awesome people.

Kazumi Watanabe is so cool. Who can be so skillful as he is?

He is nothing but supurb. This is one of the fabulous performance of him. Great Japanese guitarist!
Few play with the abandon of Kazumi...you can never predict what or where he is going next and that is the true measure of an improviser. Reminds me of the Wayne Johnson Johnson Trio in that respect!

Totally dig the "seat of your pants" wild abandon of Kazumi's soloing! Been a fan since Mobo I and it's great to hear and see he can still tear it up!

With Marcus Miller on bass and Omar Hakim on drums, you seriously can't go wrong...

Glad to see they finally reunited from the Mobo I and Mobo II days. Now we just need Sly and Robbie to join in for that magic mix of fusion and Reggae...

Ten years late to this party but...... HOLEESHITWHATJUSTHAPPENED??!!!!
His music is nothing like it though...Di Meola has a decided Spanish type influence where as Kazumi is decidedly Japanese - still both are awesome in their own respects!

Kazumi Watanabe was hospitalized in February. I really hope he can overcome brainstem hemorrhage and come back.
What a loose performance by a stellar line up. Marcus usually impresses. He and Omar weren’t locking it up here… the band sounded like they were reading/ rehearsing . Goes to show you.
