I am so grateful for this man exposing what I have and I am still going through. Until him, I thought I was alone. For everyone getting defensive regarding this topic and the truth being exposed, check your motivations. Real people are really suffering. Losing every drop of heath. Losing years of their lives. Ignoring that is beyond cruel and we have already suffered enough. If you don't know, consider yourself lucky and move it along. Speaking on what you don't understand is not ever a good look.

Losing decades of your life, because the horror is so interminable, so you end up taking them again because you could never believe that a decade or more after this, you end up taking them again. The same thing happens several times. You end up losing decades of your life. Put these "doctors" In prison. Then, they might stop destroying people's lives. Seriously.

I’m tapering almost halfway down but the worst for me is extreme fatigue and severe depression feeling useless watching others live life. Me non functioning. I ask God to please let me go home to Him in heaven because this is not living. I hope this taper stuff is worth it because I’m suffering. I hope it clears up as I get off. I cannot take this life much longer. I was cold turkey taken off Xanax for maybe 3-4 days which was awful but then they started me on Klonopin- and a doc had me off for one day CT and I couldn’t stand it. I never ask for this. I had some panic attacks back in 1997 and the doc said I had a “chemical imbalance” and I would need Xanax for the rest of my life just like a diabetic insulin. I feel betrayed by doctors and they stole my life from me.

Get a different doctor and go on liquid Valium. I reduce it by one drop every 7 days and it’s a lot easier to come off of. Been reducing super slow since July. It’s the only way. It will get better.

@@melreezy1092 I’m working with a nurse practitioner. She has me using liquid Clonazepam. When I reduce again, her plan is 5% per month- but she has had me holding lately but I feel it doesn’t help me to hold.

Benzo withdrawal was the most horrendous experience I've ever experienced... I thought I was going crazy for months and it took nearly two years for me to believe I would start getting back to "normal"

Hi Ryan can you tell me how long you've taken benzo which one ?

@@Thisisalt5465 Hi, I was taking them regularly for around three years. I started off on Lorazepam, then switched to 4mg Diazepam split over two doses a day. Over the years I'd ended up on 25mg daily before I chose to stop taking all prescription medications. Benzodiazepines (Diazepam), SNRI (Mirtazapine), anti-epileptic (Pregabalin), Stimulant (Ritalin). I'd just also like to add, whilst it was a very challenging experience, horrifying, it's also one of the best decisions I've ever made and I'm quite proud of myself for getting through the process. I wish I had found this doctor and the focused community during the process. You need to accept it's part of the process, people sharing their experiences are what kept me going. It's really quite scary, I'm a better person for it though. That being said, I could have gone about it a whole lot better given the knowledge I know now. Slow and steady seems best. I was tapered off within a few weeks. I'm just trying to balance out my previous comment not to scare anyone, but be prepared.

@isaacm159 unfortunately, it takes time for the body to reach homeostasis from this. I tried the carnivore diet, that really started to improves things and I've kept with it because of all the benefits.

Ms. Mitchell; the psych ward personnel must've drugged u up again while u were there. That's what sucks RE: withdrawal.

Damn I’m so glad I denied these when the doc prescribed them. I ended up on basically a prescription Benadryl 3x a day instead. No detox when it was time to come off.

Dr Josef, can you please provide some information on Antipsychotics? The latest trend is for Psychiatrists to put people on Antipsychotics to avoid the issues with Benzos. Olanzapine is handed out like lollies in Australia.

*Benzo withdrawal symptoms typically present themselves within a day of your last dose, though sometimes the onset can occur in less than 12 hours.*

😮 wow. I can’t imagine. That’s a high dose of Effexor. You need to taper. My son did the same but he quit another psych drug at the same time so he was forcibly hospitalized.

I’ve come off 1800mg cold turkey of venlafaxine and ended up in the ER room. It was a nightmare to say the least. They put me on Paxil and then after 30 days I stopped that. I’m happy to report it will get better. Time heals all.

@@melreezy1092Time heals all? It depends on the individual & his/her circumstances. It's been over 7 yrs since I went psych med-free after 30+ different psych meds over 44 yrs (starting w/Ritalin @ age 4 in 1971; my DOB: 7/20/1967). IDK if I'll ever recognize any semblance of healing. I'm trying 2 b optimistic but let's b realistic here. Ok?
