I've only had my H4s for a couple of weeks, sound is great but the left side keeps getting stuck when I turn it and it won't turn back. Is this a common issue? I'm worried I might break them when trying to force them round.

Thanks for the video on these very interesting headphones. A bit more comparison to the H7 would be useful to see how they made the lower price point. It looks like the removable battery feature is not present in the H4 (pity), and while they have AAC codec support, they don't support the aptX codec at all (the H7 has aptX low latency support). How do you feel about the physical controls vs the touch controls on the H7/H8/H9?

Great Review - the only real one that actually compares the H4 with other B&O gear! I was hoping you would be able to give me a little more insight between the H4 and the H6 mk2. I know that you mentioned in the videos and the comments that the H6 is more accurate and the H4 more punchy - but I was wondering how they compare in terms of soundstage. I have sampled the H6 and felt that they were a little bass-light for my taste, but their soundstage was incredible - are the H4 as clear, and do they give the same impression that I am perfectly surrounded by the music? As though I want a tad bit more bass, I would hate to have that at the cost of clarity, etc., and sadly do not have a store nearby that has the H4s to try. Thanks!!

Dongeun Jung no, the actual body of the ear cups is plastic. There is only one colour for now but I imagine more will follow soon. John.

Just a question, when disconnecting the headphones, do you have to manually disconnect from the device you're paired too? Because for some reason if I want to connect to them from say my iPhone, I have to go to my mac and manually disconnect before I can pair! (A bit annoying)

Great videos. And they are honest and I like that. What is your view on the heat. If you use the H4 vs H6 for an hour or two. Witch is hotter. I have the H6 and they sound stunning but I can only use them for 30-45 minutes and then my ears have to get some air. Would the H4 be better for long time listening. Thanx

JKS Ala thanks, honesty is always best I find. I've not had too much of an issue with heat but I know what you mean. I have H6 but never really wear them for more than an hour or so. H4 pads are actually plumper so they could be worse for you. I would try and give them a lengthy demo in a store, B&O sales staff are usually extremely helpful from my experience, I'm sure they won't mind you taking your time. John.

I don't really know to be honest. Some online retailers buy in bulk and can offer discounts. Sometimes end of life products get discounted too to clear the old stock out. I think most B&O dealers are often very similar on price.

Hi Ricardo, I doubt that H4 will ever replace H6. Personally I prefer the natural sound of H6 over all of the headphones. It depends on your taste and where you intend to listen to them. Is a Bluetooth wireless connection important to you? Do you listen while commuting on noisy public transport? If so the Active Noise Cancellation feature on BeoPlay H8 or H9 may be useful to you. I highly recommend calling into your local dealer and trying them out for yourself with your own music, the sales staff will help guide you. Thanks for watching, John.

John, I have and love my second generation H6 versus the first generation. I am torn between the H4 and H7, can you tell me which of these 2 will get me closest in regards to sound and bass level as the H4 gen? Thank you kindly.

Daniel Trinh the H7 are closest in terms of sound to H6, they are very similar. H4 have a different sound all together. My best advice is to give them a try in your local dealer if you can. Thanks for watching. John.

Are you sure about the difference between H7 and H4? I thought they used the same driver... I'm asking because I'm considering replacing my H7 with H4, since they apparently don't have all the H7 problems, however I want the same sound quality... Unfortunately, I can't try them out IRL Or maybe H4 are EQable to sound like H7?

Hello Hasu, To me H4 and H7 don't sound alike, they must use different processing/EQ. H4 have brighter treble and heavier bass, H7 sound more like H6, more natural to my ears. If you buy H4 from www.beoplay.com and don't like the sound just send them back or change them for something else. Hope this helps. John.

Hello John, thanks for the reply. You might be right, I noticed H4 have different freq range, or at least that's what B&O site says. I guess I'll pass on H4 then, since I find H7 have plenty (but not too much) bass, treble seems also pretty bright, though it may be they extend pretty high and I'm not used to that kind of sound. I have some more questions if you don't mind! 1) How do you find the fit of H7? My head is on the large side, and still they sit quite loose, when i turn my head up the headband slides back... Also it could use more padding! Do you share that experience? 2) I'm getting constant ticking sound (like in a clock) in the left earphone in BT mode, audible only at very low volume, still pretty annoying. Was this the case with your H7? (This didn't happen with release firmware...). B&O support unfortunately isn't too helpful with that.

I'd love to see a refresh of some of the previous products that you are still currently stocking with this quality of production if you get the time. The marketing material does a good job of making pretty videos, but it's your humour that sets your videos apart and the reason I keep coming back.

Adam Eronen Piper It started as a 'let's see if I can do a KZbin video' and used my mobile phone and Windows Movie Maker for a while because my trusty 40D didn't shoot video. A new SLR has been a massive help, then learning the basics of better editing software. The audio has been a pain to get right, I upgraded my mic for this one and it's helped, a bit more practice and I'm sure I'll master it eventually. Thanks for your feedback it's much appreciated. Hello Daniel, I have used them out on the streets of Manchester and they do a pretty good job being over ear with big memory foam cushions. I found myself not thinking about outside noise so that's a good sign. I have not flown on a plane with them so maybe someone that has can comment on that. John

It's no secret that I'm not the biggest Bose fan in the world (I used to have to install the Lifestyle, Acoustimass and 321 systems when customers insisted on Bose when I worked for another AV/home automation company before B&O) I haven't heard the QC15 to be honest so can't comment on them. I have heard several pairs of QC35 in the shop when customers have brought them in for comparison against H9 and H4. Although I admit they sounded slighty better than I expected, to me (and the customer ) the H9 and H4 won every time. I can also say that I think build quality is far superior on the BeoPlay headphone range, I found the Bose very plastic and a bit cheap feeling. I'll always be honest in the videos and comments, I hope this helps. (Sorry for the long reply!) John.

You could always get the H6 and bluetooth headphone adapter.

You plug the H6 into the Bluetooth receiver and then that runs from battery. There are products on the market that allow you to turn wired headphones into wireless headphones.
