We’ve had an Eclipse since 2017 and I have to say that after our little dog (who didn’t cost anything!) it’s been one of the best investments we’ve ever made. Especially given what we’ve been going through in 2020.

I love the Eclipse, it looks so much more elegant than the Harmony in my opinion. And really feels like the modern Beovision 7, which has always been my favorite B&O product. I've got a BV7 now, can't wait to have an Eclipse someday. Man, it is gorgeous!

@@maarten6656 Thanks for the advice, I saw a 7-55 for as low as 950 euro's a couple of weeks ago, so I was getting very hopefull that maybe in the next years I can buy one, or a 40 Mk3 Bluray for like 200-250 hahaha

Hi John, thanks for your thorough review/introduction of the Eclipse. I'm actually looking into the Eclipse to purchase and I've read about the VRR problems with the LG panels. Do you know if B&O is aware of this problem and what their approach is to the fix? LG stated that they must fix it hardware-wise thus in a newer model. I'm curious to know if B&O will deliver the Eclipse with the VRR problems or if they will offer a replacement/fix once LG releases it.

I've never had an issue and have sold loads of CX and GX panels. I didn't know that existed until I read your comment. From my understanding that's the sort of thing used for a PC connection or consoles for gaming. I have a C9 at home and found the gaming modes not as good as regular TV modes. B&O have a set of picture settings to optimize the picture that we put in on installation we don't turn VRR on and we've never had a picture issue. If you would prefer to wait the newly announced OLED will will fit the Eclipse if you want price of mind.

Hi Jan, this stand does not fit Harmony but a motor stand has just been released for the Harmony. It does not orbit the plate and come forwards but does offer a turning function. (Harmony still wins on sound!) John

If it was me I would probably wait for the new panel as it's release is just around the corner, its nice to have the current spec. That said the new G1 will cost a bit more and the GX panel is still incredible so nothing wrong with going for it now and saving a bit of cash. It's your call :-) John

Hey just wondering, what would be the point of 16 speakers because you can’t take advantage, due to the sound formats. I saw that you can connect ceiling speakers, does this mean they might add Dolby atmos later on? Also how do you connect 8 wired loudspeakers, are there enough inputs? Hi Jackson, that's what the Bang & Olufsen True Image does (it's actually sound and not picture!) It will take the available format coming in and utilise the available speakers with clever processing. So even if you have stereo 2 channel input True Image will still use all available speakers if you want it to. Likewise if you have 5.1 or 7.1 coming from the source but only have the TV speakers it will down mix it to the 3 available channels. It's a very clever and underrated system! Hope that helps. John

Really a shame that B&O is not providing an upgrade path to people who have spent a fortune on the v1 eclipse with a 3 year old panel. B&O used to be about sustainable design and system-thinking. More and more going down the planned obsolescence .route. Any guarantees that the v2 will allow fitting of G11 G12 etc.. panels when they inevitably appear?

Gen 3 has been adjusted slightly to accommodate the new 2022 LG OLED C2 / G2. The speaker performance and stand / cover options remain the same.

You mention that it is a fully fledged audio system but not everyone wants a 55" tv to play music. Why don't B&O create a new stand alone Fully Fledged Audio System so that we can listen to it through their expensive speakers. They are always updating TV's, Speakers, Bluetooth Speakes but not a new audio system. I think B&O have forgot what it is like to listen to music via a CD through a Beosound 3000 and Beolab 6000 speakers (my setup and still love it), they would rather have customers purchase a wireless speakers streaming via Spotify/Deezer not everyone likes to listen to music via streaming but B&O thinks that this is the way forward, they have forgotten there routes which in my eyes was the audio systems.

The CD era is technically over. I do love to listen to my CD's, but our group is getting smaller and smaller :( Even I like the convenience of music over KZbin or other streaming services. Especially now the quality is getting higher and higher.

Hi there John - when it's wall mounted, what is the gap to the wall? Ask because the GX is ideally suited for flush fitting against the wall.....is the gap the same as the V1 essentially? (I'm not a fan of gaps etc, and looking for something to replace my wall mounted 12-65.....hence the question

Hi Sandeep, it's a hinge bracket that attaches into the side of the sound centre that allows it to swivel. There is a small gap but the speaker is almost touching the wall when it's closed.

Prefer it to the harmony tbh , partly as you can have the stand in black , plus 55 is much less obtrusive than 65 , also the moving stuff would annoy me after awhile , eclipse is a seriously good tv

Each to their own, I love Eclipse too, it's a bit of a stunner and the stand is more flexible than the Harmony one. I'd have a hard time choosing between the 2. John

BnO make nice TVs but the big problem in the past was connecting non bno gears, the new ones are better but still not perfect . Problem with gong seperate equipment is complication for older and non tech people, bno is an expensive but good compromise imo . Remind me of apple
