Beretta PX4 Storm Sub-Compact 40 caliber Review. Out with the old

My trusty Beretta PX4 Storm Sub-Compact is getting retired for a few reasons.
- Too small for my hands
- Hammer fired instead of striker fired
- Fell in love with the M&P brand
It is still a good shooter but I think it is time to move on to something better newer and faster to fire in an emergency situation.

LGS had a full size 9 PX4 and this used back in Feb. I picked up the full size. Went back last week and still had this 40. So now I have it lol.

All the endless micro 9 and compact 10mm popping up and I'm still rocking my px4 subcompact 40s&w. If beretta would do a px4 2.0 and slim the buldging slide and frame they'd sell like crazy again .

I agree, it is a bit bulky for a carry gun. That's why I went to the M&P Shield and honestly, I'm glad I did. Better trigger and it fits my hand better.

I own one of these little hog legs. I guess some call it the bulldog. 40cal. There's an after market extension mag for it and an extension rubber sleeve for the extra length. Us the mag & sleeve and you'll be surprised how nice it fits your hand and also a few extra rounds to carry. I purchased the sleeve from Amazon. PX4 40 subcompact is my choice for carry and its loud AF. I really enjoy the little cannon. I subbed you. Thanks for the review.

I’ve got the subcompact (kicks and dances) and the full-size (smooth and laser accurate). Putting the 17 round extended mag on the subcompact definitely helps calm the movement.

I carry the PX4 Storm Compact in .40 cal. The only thing that I do not like is the grip is like a wet bar of soap. I remedied that with hockey tape and contact cement. Looks horrible but this weapon functions flawlessly. Which is why I carry it.

I did the same with my 9mm PX4 sub-compact. I didn't want to do a piss-poor stipling job on the grip so I just put some maroon grip tape over it and that helped a lot. I'll probably change that to black tape however as the maroon tape already looks dirty as hell. lol

I Had the PX4 compact. It was too small for my hands but the M&P Shield45 that I replaced it with is perfect. I love my M&Ps, they are the best guns for the price in my opinion

@@PatriotOutdoors2022 before I bought the px4, I had the opportunity to compare the compact & the full size and the full size is way better esp in terms of grip and comfortability.. the m&p shield I had got extended mugs also for added grip for my pinky. Both guns are reliable and pretty sure damn accurate..

As for safety not all guns are alike. It's a Beretta it will fire if magazine is our and one in tube. I had the 92fs. I sold it when department went to a double action Sigma. I retired and love the .40 px4storm

40 seems to be a lot more stable in my hand. As it empties and weight decreases not so much. I have big hands and I can still control the gun comfortably. I think I chose the sub just because it just looked better. The full size was just ugly. It's all in what you're comfortable with. I've been carrying mine for the better part of 10 years and I love everything about it

The reason why the de-cocker feature is also a safety is because on many such SA/DA firearms, that feature has caused a negligent discharge from a malfunction that ends up in a lawsuit.

The PX4 appears to be an excellent weapon. I know of folks that are actually switching from other weapons to the PX4 for CCW right now, which I cannot understand. It is a 'subcompact' that is almost 1.5" thick. That's almost twice as thick is a Glock 43, 1.5 times as thick as the Canik MC9 and a quarter-inch wider than the amazing Glock 27 .40. Perhaps your carry needs are different. But, let me know how that weapon (PX4) worked in appendix-carry, sitting in a conference room chair for a 2-hour meeting, driving in your car, or anything else beyond basic standing and walking. I believe I know why your going to the S&W, but I'm not certain what appears to have you believing that striker fired weapons are better than hammer fired, particularly when there is no reliability advantage either way, and good luck getting a striker fired weapon to have as nice a trigger as you can with a hammer-fired weapon. I like and am comfortable with both, but all other things being equal, I'll take hammer-fired with their amazing triggers. Just sucks that it's nearly impossible to do sub-compact to micro with hammer fired. Thankfully, the Canik MC9 has an amazing trigger and is to small and thin that I can drive with it, sit for hours in meetings, etc., all with it concealed, and that's when the M01 optic installed. Have had zero issues or failures in about 1500 rounds now. Nitpicking...perhaps. Still a good, informative video. Thumbs up.

40 remains my favorite cartridge even after getting a 9mm. I just don't see much difference in the recoil to justify dropping the caliber size

I have had .38, .357, 9mm, .380 , .45 and the .40 cal. My view is this. If an intruder would enter .45 best knock down, 9mm go right through the offender and kill him however kill also wife or kid behind. , .380 a good hit might not slow the aggressor., .40 best all around, but a .357 and teflon tips will stop a car engine. I can talk the talk and walk the walk I always qualified 48/50 at the range.

I'm not a fan of Glock. So many newer polymer striker fired pistols out there. I like my M&Ps. They shoot good and their ergonomics are great.

@@opppopp2322 the choice for me would be which one fits my hand better. The grip on the PX4 is thick enough but too short. Even with the extension popped out. My pinky dancing off the grip is why I chose to get something else for carry.
