Those locos where in a class of one except the Ae4/7. When working together as shown did each loco have a crew or have they been modified to work as a multiple unit, (one driver for the set)? I think they forgot about the TM2/2 at the back I don't thing the go that fast. I would check the connecting rod bearings before using it again.

Great video! I felt bad for the little shunted trying to keep up. What are the pipes on the sides of the locos for?
@Ae-sh6bc5 жыл бұрын
The pipes on the side of the locomotive served to cool the transformer oil ... In 1920, this was a very efficient solution for using the airstream.

How do they have such high pitched whistles. Is it air-pressured or is there some kind of mechanism that powers it?

Yes, the locomotive whistles are operated with compressed air.

A word from a train videographer’s perspective... When possible, you should be pointing the camera upstream, not downstream. It’s much easier, for the viewer, to watch a train coming at you than it is to watch a train going away from you.

what is the vintage of all of these side rod electrics?
@Ae-sh6bc4 жыл бұрын
The two brown locomotives with rod drive (Ce 6/8 I and Be 4/6) were built in 1919 and 1920. The green locomotive (Ae 4/7) was built in 1931.

@@Ae-sh6bc do the two brown units have two traction motors per wheel set with the two traction motors running a spur gear and then the crank eccentric? Or in other words, 4 traction motors per locomotive
@Ae-sh6bc4 жыл бұрын
@@3RTracing The SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) use single-phase alternating current of 15 kV voltage and a frequency of 16.7 Hz. The Be 4/6 (1920) has an output of 2040 hp. The Ce 6/8 I (1919) would have an output of 2370 hp, but unfortunately it can only be rolled and cannot be used on its own. The Ae 4/7 (1932) has an output of 3120 hp.
