She was so down to earth...and talented. Man the world was lucky to have her light while we did. She was always appreciated, but I think we failed to really respect the level of her vocal talent as it deserved. Everyone talked more about other singers at the time and thought of Olivia as a sweet pop start. She was a GREAT singer with fantastic range and breath control. Plus she had a crystal clear voice like an angel. And now she's officially an angel.

Great artistry witnessed between a talented (much more than I had assumed before) and a LEGENDARY guitarist. Magical/Unforgettable moments often occur at impromptu moments such as this that would expose imposters and confirm great artists. ONJ was inspired to go beyond her "comfort zone" to reach/pushed/inspired to connect the song to the audience lucky enough to be there. She surpasses the recent efforts of Lady Gaga and could be considered in the same catogoy of performances from Amy Winehouse to Eva Cassidy - both are singing "Over the Rainbow" in Rock and Roll Heaven. Thanks for the video and R.I.P. Olivia Newton-John and Les Paul!!!!!!
@aaronaragon78382 жыл бұрын
Anybody that doesn't put Olivia in the Pantheon of great vocalists only needs to watch this impromptu performance...no warm up, no rehearsal with the band, and nails a jazz tune for the ages.
@jamesbond46332 жыл бұрын
Olivia just casually walks up on stage and without any rehearsal with the band and just a bit of conversation to figure out what song to play in what key, she gives a spine tingling performance having just downed a vodka!!! Amazing !!! The band was superb with Les. If there is any doubt that Olivia was only a pretty face this for me shows the extreme level of talent she possessed. A real musician's musician as they say in the business!!! With all the production techniques and autotune and star making machinery they have now.,..these videos are invaluable as they show the artists stripped down in a small club playing live. If you can make it here....you can make it anywhere!!! A lot of modern music is missing that. Too contrived for my liking.
@tomb56302 жыл бұрын
Les Paul lived (and died) in a town not too far north of me in NJ. I met his son Rusty through a guitarist friend of mine. His son took care of everything. This, his Monday night gig at the Iridium Jazz club in NYC , was his most famous consistent engagement. Every major artist and guitarist went there to see him. If Rusty saw my friend he would make him come in and sit him at the table in the front. One night Sir Paul joined him at that table...

What a beauty is a common phrase in Australia and you could sure say that about Olivia Newton-John. I remember when she sang Hopelessly Devoted to You and wow I was intoxicated with love for her. As for Les Paul I just started watching some videos of him. The one where he's with Chet Atkins and they're being interviewed on good morning show with Avery Schreiber. People have not changed in the sense that if they just put in a practice and dedication they can do well at whatever they do in life. I'm already missing the older generation. My Dad was a World War II Army Vet and my grandparents all born in the late 1800s. It's hard in this world full of sin ( rude, hateful, deceiving, profane, violent, etc ) .

What a British-Australian-American ok International mega-superstar the most stunningly beautiful princess Olivia Newton-John. Les Paul on guitar pure magic. What an angelic voice. We love you Olivia you left a legacy of immortal songs. God has taken you to his heavenly choir. This lady left her mark as a humanitarian for cancer patients, she worked so hard to build the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Clinic. This hospital in Melbourne Australia has saved thousands of lives. This lady has dedicated her life to the safety and welfare of animals, wildlife, legalising medical cannabis for the sick and to worthy humanitarian causes. A true saint. A selfless dedicated lady who put the world's humanitarian causes before her own battle. I love her husband, the love of her life. John never betrayed her, he stood by and supported her every step of her cancer journey trying to relieve her horrific pain. Olivia suffered horrendous pain in silence. Her daughter Chloe her rock and the other love of her life. Chloe has her Mom's famous beauty. God bless them and the world her fans. SENDING LOVE AND LIGHT ❤
