Excellent! You are really one of the very few people who knows to do true “Berliner Schule” nowadays. Thanks a lot.

Very kind NSL - years listening to early TD and minimalism for sure :)

Your “Berliner Schule” creations are fantastic. I’m actually a little bit shocked about the quality. And I’m also shocked about how “less” of equipment is needed in these times to achieve such a great level in this genre. In the past they had tons of hardware in the studio and a few hundred thousands bucks to pay, including three people to control the synths and a big crew for transport and mixing to get to this point. And today you are doing this from home and drinking coffee, while you are recording your session on video to upload it to the internet. I’m truly impressed!

Thanks v much Diderich - for sure we are lucky with the gear nowadays compared with early sequential driven music. There is also something great about using limited equipment (which this rig is compared to say a big modular rack). I think there is also a level of practise that goes into on the fly creations like this, I do see a lot of folk who will let a sequence run for 20 minutes without any change, I try to keep things moving as much as poss.

Turn up the speakers a little, your knee starts to bob, your head nods along. Another great piece of music!

Another great inspirational Improv... as a retirement project, I've bought a Behringer Go case, a 960, a 962.. couple of 2hp Div's, Mults, an O&C, Disting 4, Brains, Model D, NTS-1 mk2, a A-138s, Behringer System 100 182 sequencer (still awaiting delivery) and 305 mixer... now to try and figure out cabling, etc etc... I'll be happy if I can do a fraction of this improv in a couple of years !...

Wow you are going full on old school rig like mine - pretty easy to connect the model D and the quantiser in O_c but the Divs and 182 ratcheting needs a little thought for sure! I often find the placement of modules for performance is a thing in itself too! I should do a patching video one day of my rig with some diagrams :) But there are a few talkthrough vids already up which go through the flow part

@@GaryHayes without your tutorials so far, I wouldn't have attempted any of this. I've literally just started playing with each module 1-by-1 to try and understand things.. not even looked at the O&C yet... Diagrams of patching would be awesome ! (I did my Elektron workflow diagram on my last video as people asked me how I was controlling stuff). I've found the audio input of the NTS to be very low when putting the Model D thru it...

Exquisite my man. Good to dust off and re-acquaint oneself with stuff you haven’t used for a while. I use my Gibson 1974 Bass most of the time but nice to get my jass bass off the wall for a play. 😀😀😀

Thanks Phil! - when I say for a while, for me that is Aug 19th since last upload of this rack :) In its dust cover door. Would be interested to see a Bass Modular jam one day, with the jazz bass on the beach :)

I'm curious to know how this system does so much. It's impressive. Wanna do a written interview and explain to us your way of patching?
@GaryHayes6 күн бұрын
Thanks Rakt - appreciate the listen and ask! I have done quite a few 'flow' patching videos on this channel, for this rig, main main Mantis modular and recently the little travel pod too. This might actually be what you are looking for, for this Berlin focused rack? kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4i8ZqKll7edjrc&ab_channel=GaryPHayes

@@GaryHayes I actually watched it yesterday. Let me know if you want to do an interview for our newsletter.
