I’m from Malaysia, Our pocket rocket man Dato Azizul Hasni Awang said “How matter expensive is the bike but the most important is your LEG”
@Eriezal3 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% with your statement. But what amazes me is why GCN can't seem to accept the value of 60k is a new technology that is worth the price? Possibly this indoor racer is not their specialty and my advice is to do some research before interviewing or doing coverage. My humble opinion.
@tommyrq18010 күн бұрын
Nice emotional sentiment, but it’s wrong. At that level, everyone has the legs. What matters is the technology. This is very similar to the emotional mythology of soldiers, who assert that it’s the man, not the (military) technology. Well, that’s simply not true. At that level, technology provides the competitive advantage. Not one single elite athlete would compete on an old bike! And to drive this point home, AWANG HIMSELF COMPETED ON AN $80,000 TRACK BIKE, a Vorteq WX-R. So this puts the absolute lie to Awang’s alleged quote, doesn’t it?!? 😊

Sir Chris knows the spirit of a racer--ride the best gear a sponsor can buy and it is the story of racing from the beginning, I suppose. And that was the carrot on a stick for me when I was a local racer in DC in the Eighties--everyone on the Whole Wheel Velo team would get a new Nishiki frame for the '84 season. Or something like that is what I heard at the time. Sponsors make the racing world go round and that is a beautiful thing. .

Don't quote me on this as this is speculation, but I think the reason the Malaysian bike (and I think the German bike) is quoted as so expensive is as they're practically one off, so one or two bikes and their components has to shoulder all the cost of the wind tunnel testing, machining the mold etc etc, while the cervellos, pinarello and all the llos are off the peg, so dividing the development cost by just 100 bike will bring the price down massively.
@syakir5563 жыл бұрын
That WX-R bike price are so expensive because they don't want any other team buys their bike . That's why they're put the crazy price tag . Only azizul can feel that perfect bike and hope he can beat everyone on the track . If someone want that bike they'll sell to them for that price . Crazy

Well, a pair of Campagnolo Ghibli wheels could cost as much as £6000 and an outdated Argon18 frame costs around the same. So, £20000 for a complete World Championship track bike sounds like the mid-cheaper end of the spectrum. I think that was what they meant by "little money". But also, as you say, I get once 4th on my local velodrome (points race, beginners/master C category) with my £200 and it was because nobody knew how I ride (therefore, I never make that high on the podium again).
@albr44 жыл бұрын
@@MauricioAlsinaLee 4k for a pair of ghiblis and 5k for the electron pro. 10-15k is about the price for the cheaper (PRO) bikes that anyone could go and buy themselves today. Nobody would spend this much if they aren't a pro rider and pro riders probably have huge discounts or sponsored equipment.

The track is the last bastion of narrow/high pressure tires. On the track, high pressure tires & narrow rims / wheels still perform better... due to the smooth & consistent surface the velodrome affords.
