So suprised by the negative comments. Bette Midler is a brilliant performer. In some ways unequalled. if not for Miss Midlers rendition of this song. I would have never explored Mr. Youngs music. Relax guys she's devine!

She sure is. I saw this broadcasted on Dutch tv in my youth, together with a few friends. We were all blown away by her performance, her love, her humor, this lovely voice that makes you laugh and cry. She is one of a kind and her humor would probably get her jailed in our current crazy woke times.

5:19 I heard a woman singing "Well" after Bette sang the line "Fly away". Either that’s Ula Hedwig or Sharon Redd

Thanks for the info on this. "Birds" is a good song, but "Shiver Me Timbers" remains my favorite Mider number.

The full unedited concert was broadcast on HBO in 1977. "THE FABULOUS BETTE MIDLER SHOW " The album was called "LIVE AT LAST" also the full unedited concert. The VHS release is an edited version. This song is one of many that are cut out unfortunately.

Transitional period from the unbelievable divine miss m to performer Bette midler. Lost the camp and naturalness by the time clams came to Broadway. Was it joe layton's fault? Could be, took the naturalness out of Streisand , too. Maybe not having Barry manilow anymore. And the costumes became just that, not items you'd pick up as an eccentric. Boy, do I wish there were videos of Bette at the palace 1973 or the Capitol theatre in Passaic nj. Btw, first she claimed to be born in Paterson, no, but quickly changed that as well to being born in Hawaii. I have a feeling it was Paterson. That went too when she gave up the rock star diva to be a schlock star, oy, beaches anyone's?
