I watch a lot of KZbin... and I just got my first house. I have been watching hours & hours of KZbin videos on grass, and you have a video on everything I've been curious about. You do all the testing/experimenting that we want to see, like Rye over NEW (first season) Bermuda.. You explain everything so well, and show the process with great detail. Looking forward to more great content! ... My current yard is common bermuda, and I made the mistake of overseeding a few areas with bermuda seed from Lowes (Pennington) and the color is slightly different (It is yellowish green vs. the older blue green). Iron seemed to make it match a little better, but I am hoping as it matures, it will start to blend in a little better.. Otherwise, I may just overseed the entire lawn with that same seed to make it more of a uniform color. Any ideas on that? Also I am still searching for the follow up video on this to see the results of the Bermuda coming back up

Also you don't want to use bermuda grass seed from big box stores if you're trying to cut it low like a golf course. Those varieties are coarse and grow like weeds. You want something along the lines of a hybrid like princess 77, something with a fine grass blade so it feels soft underfoot.

I live in Arkansas. I started last year overseeding with rye grass. Looked great while the bermuda was dormant but like Pete said, bermuda had some spots that didn't wake up too good. Those spots took a little longer, a couple of good soaking rains and a couple applications of fertilizer to fully fill in nicely.

Do you think adding in some top soil mixed with compost on the bare areas would be a good soulution? I am thinking of overseeding some Bermuda lawns I service but I am concerned of this when spring time starts. Pairing it with some humic and starter fert will help too I think, Any thoughts?

I just used annual rye that I got from Sutherlands in a 50lb bag. I over seed 10,000sq. 1st year I done this I used 5lbs per 1,000 sqft and past couple years I used 10lbs per 1,000 sqf. 10lbs per thousand gets a little thick and makes the Bermuda not come back as good. This year when I overseed I'm going back to 5lbs

Pete, when you mow with a reel mower it lays the grass blades over in the direction of travel, hence how it stripes, if you mow back up that stripe you just came down it gives a far more accurate and clean cut than going in the same direction over and over, which lays the grass blade over and mat the grass over, not giving a clean, “scissor like” cut

Pete; I do not do Bermuda intentionally although the wire grass is my major weed and may be my turf as it wins the battle. That aside, I thought it was ANNUAL rye grass that one could plant in the early fall to cover the coco mat of Bermuda and that annual rye dies naturally in late spring. Perainial rye is a common pasture grass and hay grass here and believe you me it gets hot here too. Many 90 degree days, some in 100+ and even now more 90's to come. It seems unproductive to poison the rye and sicken the Bermuda in the late Spring. Can you compare/contrast perainial and annual rye. Dad called annual rye "Grow on a door knob grass.
