I saw them both in A Little Night Music...When Bernadette sang Send in the Clowns...there was not a dry eye in the house....Her's was the most beautiful I have ever heard !

I remember that moment from the broadcast of that 80th birthday tribute. "Sunday" from _Sunday in the Park with George_ was the closing number, sung by all the singers, processing down the aisles towards the stage. The camera then focused on Sondheim, sitting in the audience, who on seeing and hearing all this, broke into tears.

Bernadette Peters was born in 1947 so she is 74 now. In that great Sondheim 80 birthday there were two great Sondheim performers out Dame Angela Lansbury who was doing A little night music with Catherine Zeta Johns later replaced by Bernadette and Elaine and Barbara Cook who was in Sondheim on Sondheim. They werent in the tribute but they were in Sondheim musicals
