This channel is throwing up fights that I used to go on dodgy sites to see on a daily basis - thankyou! Also - BHop was a genius in the ring, barely lost to Calzaghe the year before and then comes back the next year and does this at the age of 43.

Back in the day I used to secretly hate Hopkins because he destroyed Tito Trinidad so I was salty 😂 he was always supposed to get old and get beaten to “pass the torch” but he would end up winning.
@HaraDuran4 ай бұрын
For me it's from his sneaky techniques,atleast you can take a lesson from his basics tho.
@TheJayblaze33 ай бұрын
You were cheering for Tito and you black? You got to be a dark skinned tether immigrant? I was 23 when that fight happened. I remember clearly like it was yesterday,when Hopkins won,it was not just the Puerto Ricans booing him,it was every non-black wannabe white person from different countries booing him. Regardless of their differences, they had with each other,all of them had the same racist commonality towards B Hop. This man was saying USA USA !!🇺🇸 after he destroyed Trinidad (an immigrant, btw) just to get treated like a citizen in his own country based on jealousy because he was Foundational Black American.

I am recently retired, and just now discovering boxing. I’ve been following Hopkins for the last week. He just seemed to get even better as he got older.

Hopkins was like 44 or 45 years old in this fight beating a young bull in Pavlik. Infact, beat him so convincingly, that Pavlik was never the same fighter again.
@pablogomez442510 ай бұрын

I’ll always remember the staredown Hopkins did at the end towards the reporters who wrote him off. Pavlik did say he was sick for this fight, but also gave props and said Hopkins is a brilliant boxer and still could’ve been him that night, he just wished he produced a better showing.

Stop with the excuses please.
@SOLE_II_SOUL10 ай бұрын
@@tom11zz884 I’m a B-Hop fan lol. But Pavlik didn’t make this excuse after the fight, this was on a Joe Rogan podcast after the fact. If you’re fighter then you know stuff happens. Most important thing, Pavlik said him being healthy might’ve not changed the outcome of him losing. No need to get uptight lol
@tom11zz88410 ай бұрын
@@SOLE_II_SOUL Not being uptight. Just don't like when excuses are thrown out there to try to dimmish a great performance on Hopkins part. I think Hopkins beats Pavlik 9 out of 10 times due to Hopkins ring smarts.

Pavlik's appearance on rogan is well worth a listen, he's real and honest about it as well as his own shortcomings and doesnt make excuses

Pavlik didn't stand a chance. Hopkins controlled damn near every second of the fight sheerly through being superior in his footwork.

I recognize the difference between the way Hopkins faught Pavlik and Taylor faught Pavlik. Jermaine Taylor was a stationary target and Bernard Hopkins moved around the ring more
@benlogan43010 ай бұрын
One of Hopkins best performances! The point taken for rabbit punches was appropriate. This was not the Pavlik that fought Taylor.
@Bobbillyjrboy6 ай бұрын
He didn’t beat Taylor because of skills. Taylor stamina was always a problem in his career.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed with a performance by a fighter like I was with B-Hop in this bout. For one I thought he was at the end of his career after the Taylor saga. Pavlik was a dawg who could probably box 25 rounds before even breaking a sweat. I remember I didn’t expect him to beat Tarver but he put on a show and followed up with what is probably his signature win against Pavlik. I honestly believe KP was set to reign over the middle weight div. for a long time had it not been for the executioner. What’s even crazier is he then unexpectedly goes on to dominate as a veteran fighter for years after before finally calling it a career.

@Duel1982 pavlik landed the cleaner shots. Outmaneuvered the older fighter. Much better ring generalship and was able to download data early on. Maybe try watching the fight in slow motion with the sound off.
@Duel19829 ай бұрын
@@hughwardjackson4776 none of the things you said happened. Hopkins unequivocally landed the cleaner, flusher shots throughout the fight. Hopkins ring general ship was on full display as he masterfully outmanoeuvred and turned Pavlik all night. Pavlik s aggression was not effective. Nor was his defense. He never controlled the center, or cut the ring. He was hopelessly outclassed. The fight wasn't close. Or competitive. Hopkins landed the left hook at will. Battered Kelly for all of the championship rounds and left his face a mess. There is no plausible way you could score it for Kelly. Even a draw would have been atrocious scoring.
