He was a career light-heavy, Ward wasn't a big enough name to bring in a huge payday and beyond that, Andre had fought at light heavy in the Olympics so it should have been him moving up to challenge Dawson. Sorry but Chad was dumb to take this and it practically ruined his career.

Chad is from my hometown of New Haven CT. He started smoking too much weed and hanging with the gangs when he was on top. Popping bottles, going to clubs. I know the guy who discovered him and became his manager at Ring One on Congress Ave.. but they had a falling out with Chad because he wanted to be a thug too instead of a champ. I wonder if the loosing losing weight affected Chad
@owainkanaway83455 жыл бұрын
@@too_sturdy I don't think it was that. I think it was because he was switching trainers too much, and he had a bad attitude. It takes time for a trainer to evaluate their fighter; their strengths their weaknesses, getting their fighter to fight at their absolute best. Everytime Chad was hiring a new trainer he was going back to square 1, the trainer evaluating Dawson and seeing how he's like, and that trainer could be making Chad fight the wrong way at first. It takes like 5 or 6 fights for a trainer to really understand their boxer, and in some cases that trainer is just not good. So Chad wasn't improving, he was actually regressing every-time he got a new trainer (although in Chad's case he had like 4 elite trainers that would have made him fight to his potential). Chad should have had a permanent trainer before he won the title, he choose Floyd Mayweather Sr and he should have stuck with him.

I don't think it will be that easy, but I'm confident SOG will controll Kovalev like he has done to all his opponents until now. Ward has faced punchers of Kovalev's caliber. Kovalev hasn't dealt with a boxer with the sience of SOG.

Ward said 168 or no fight. Smart on his behalf though. Ward's career should've sky-rocketed after this bout but BS occurred like it usually does to the best & he missed a solid amount of time during his prime.

Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather is like the Peyton Manning and Tom Brady of boxing only thing is Floyd and Andre is not embraced and loved by americans.... I wonder why that is??
@RTC16556 жыл бұрын
No need to wonder; casual fans of combat sport tend to like narcissists (Floyd, Conor) and flat out maniacs (Tyson) rather than responsible family men (Ward, Cormier). The hard core fans tend to appreciate technique and skills but are just 10-20% of the total fan base.
