What a great teacher. Very little people come close to replicating the teaching ability of Danaher and his team - Mikey has done exactly that. Explains what his goals are from each position, why these are the goals, and gives practical ways of achieving these goals. Many people might just see the video is 14 minutes long, and decide to skim through it, skip around, or avoid watching it entirely. If you sit through and try to soak in as much knowledge as possible, Mikey will give you conceptual insights that will carry you to black belt and beyond.

He has the exact same mindset of HELIO GRACIE. Studying the human body, trying to make it more and more efficient all the time. Funnily enough HELIO was also very unassuming physically. Rickson Gracie once mentioned him being very strong was detrimental to his learning perfect techniques, since it was soooo tempting for him to simply force it with power. He had to make an extra mental effort not to succumb to the temptation.

@mikea57263 жыл бұрын
I understand how he got to this because when you're short and you like leg locks the hard part isn't getting there as much as controlling the foot. Naturally the foot is in your face, so you grab the heel and lock the foot between your neck and shoulder kind of like a shotput. It's mostly because that's the best grip you can get and trying to jam someone's foot in your armpit who knows exactly what you're trying to do isn't so simple....this is. The fact that this kid naturally came across the same thing that I'd bet countless other people who trained did, and he decided to analyze, test and teach it to others is what the martial arts is all about. The name should go to who takes the time to expose it to the most eyes, and things can always change. A Von Flue can become a Von Preux before you know it. I also just watched Ghost Dog again, so maybe I'm being too philosophical.
