I contacted them and they just told me that the seal had failed and that's why its shooting propane out the vent hole. No offer to repair mine at all. (so much for "lifetime warranty" I guess)

Mine failed after 7 years. I contacted them on their website, filled out the form explaining the problem. (shooting propane out the vent hole). The next day I received an email with a RMA number, and instructions to bring it back to Lowes, no receipt required. Lowes told me to get another one off the shelf and sent me on my way.

I just wanted to share some repair info that I picked up from Mike OBryan in the comments section of another video. "So I fixed this problem the right way if anyone is interested. The problem lies in the part on the bottom you can't unscrew cause it's pressed against the threads like this gentleman pointed out. Just take a 1/16" drill bit and drill about 4 shallow holes in those pressed in tabs to relieve the tension on the threads, do it right next to the threads. Then take a punch that fits snug in that little hole that's used to screw the piece in and use a hammer to unscrew it. It will be tight at first but I got mine out without any thread damage. When you get it out you will see it has an oring, then there is another piece further in with two orings. One or all of the orings are your problem. Inspect them for damage and replace if needed. If they're like mine and undamaged, just take them off, clean everything and lube the orings up with petroleum jelly and put them back on. Put it back together and test it out."

My TS8000 is a little over a year old. I have a short hose between the torch and the tank and I only use it to melt silver and gold for jewelry casting using map gas. Once I saw the disassembled pressure regulator and you suggested squirting some silicone lubricant in the little hole under the trigger, I figured I would give it a try. All I had was some Green Foam deep lubricant so I sprayed it into the hole and shook it up and down a few times - now it works like a charm. My only concern now is that the deep lubricant tends to not work well with plastics. I hope that it doesn't attack the "O" rings. Thanks for the great information.

A video on how to get the regulator out would have been more helpful

Its not that easy. You pretty much have to cut the torch open to get it out. Its not meant to be taken apart. Just use the warranty

Mine is not shooting anything out of the vent hole but the self igniter does not work anymore and when I light it with a regular lighter it does not adjust down it's just a regular flame coming out that you can't do anything with! Any ideas?

Hey so mine is doing the same thing and I got as far as the ‘crushed thread’ part, how did you get it apart? Or is it not doable without damaging the torch? Cheers

There's about 15 to 30 seconds of gas in the nozzle. Took it off to burn it out and store it in the truck safely. Put it back on in cold cold weather and had the same failure. Great video

you have to remove the slug that connects to the tank, its inside the handle and it screws out

NOBOX7 Thanks a lot for the fast respond. Under the washer it looks like sides been squashed. Was it easy to unscrew it? Thanks for your help.

Yes they do smash the threads , use a dremel tool and a carbide bit to grind off the smashed tabs . no i wouldn't say it was easy but its not that bad

can you elaborate? I've taken a bit to the tabs to get needle nose pliers to grip on it, but it won't budge when I try unscrewing it. can you add another video on how to take it apart?

Very good information! Mine too failed during a hard cold we had a couple seasons back, I got spoiled with the easy ignite and hated not being able to use it. I appreciate you showing the parts and the O-rings, instead of just trying to explain the problem! Now to do the repairs and get some more use out it instead of hanging on the wall. Thank you.

Thanks for the video. I used mine and then it sat for a while. I screwed a new can of gas on today and LEAK out the vent hole. It's a $37 torch but I don't have the friggin receipt. I'll just buy another because I do like the torch and my oxy acetylene is not always really handy to access.

Safety idea…fit a short, small bore brass tube (toob in American😜) to the vent hole so if leaking gas ignites, it does it away from your hand!

Hey THANKS BUDDY! - That Lithium Spray Lube got my TS8000 working until the O-ring got too cold again due to Liquid fuel to gas. Warning any Mods to increase flow increases sub temps to cause O-ring to fail causing explosion like you, me, Challenger in 1986 and others. So just a heads up y'all.
@obfuscated3090 Жыл бұрын
That sheet metal regulator is just not industrial quality. It would be easy to produce a higher quality torch but the market at the bottom end is so competitive they're better off building cheap. By the time most wears out the warranty will be forgotten. I don't care for their quality and use Turbotorch, Goss, Victor and Asco instead. I rebuild industrial welding and cutting torches to use and note if you want to use replacement O-rings use real Viton rings (trivially cheap by the bag, I also buy them for carb rebuilds since kit prices are insanely high). That bore should have been machined brass but pennies are considered critical by the manufacturer even if the customer didn't mind the difference.
