Ok, first off, it's pronounced 'Timmy' (think Southpark!) or 'Tee-Mee' in the old country (Italy). We're so glad you enjoyed the bottle. We've found Scotch single grains to be very polarizing. Some people love them (our camp) and some are like 'this is just a Scottish bourbon, I don't get it'. Our job is to educate. A HUGE thanks for digging into Cameronbridge history. That's more than we had. I don't know the cask type, but typically they'll use 2nd or 3rd fill bourbon to reduce the cask influence of 30+ years, occasionally finishing in an old sherry cask of some type. I'm fairly sure that the grain this is mostly wheat in this bottle. I know that in the mid-80's, most of the grain distilleries switched from wheat to corn for economic reasons. I love wheat distillate so am always on the lookout for anything from mid-80's and older. I hope you and dad enjoy the other samples. If I recall there was quite a spread of ages (29-45) and various grain distilleries. Let us know. I will be sharing this video with our Indiana group today during our annual Christmas party at our house, 35+ thirsty souls. See you soon and Happy Holidays, Nollaig Shona and Sláinte. I decided to learn about Scotch when I turned 50. I am 58 now. I was driven to this fascinating world by my favorite author (George MacDonald Fraser) and his Private McAuslan short stories about his time as an officer in a Highland Regiment after WW2. He says this about water and whisky in The Whisky and the Music. "The barman poured out a very pale antiquary and gave me my water in a separate glass (if you want to be a really snob whisky drinker, that is the way you take it, in alternate sips, a right "professional Highlander" trick." Just thought you might get a kick out of that. Daniel,I think you would love these short stories, but first you would have to read his short WW2 memoir "Quartered Safe Out Here." I love Whiskey Vault in all its iterations, but I just can't add water to it. I have to take it in alternate sips-LOL. I am hard-core into the peated Scotch stage of my journey right now.

Nikka coffey grain whisky is so tasty because of those column stills. One of my favorites.

Single grain is very cool in that you can get very old for reasonable prices. Years ago got a Cambus 30 single grain distilled in September of 1988 for $80. I met my wife that month. The Time Machine in a bottle aspect of Whisky is wonderful. Cheers

I once had a bottle of 27 year old berry bros Invergordon. It was good at the beginning of the bottle but once it opened up it was so amazing I was thinking about it often and couldn't wait to have another dram. I had to proceed with caution as moderation is key to actually enjoying a whisky. Cheers!

The only thing that would take this episode all the way back is if you brought back the books to set the whiskey and glencairn glass on. Never was a fan of the wooden box. Edited to add: Good shot!

The bird’s name is Woodstock. Lol! In 1984, I was either in 7th or 8th grade, and was obsessed with my motorcycle racing (short track and TT, if anyone knows what those are. Very little MX). Good times.

huh, I had thought I was older than Daniel...not 2 years younger. Whatever you're doing, keep it up. I just discovered Suntory Toki. So very friendly to drink that it did not last long. (Laphroaig Quarter Cask is my current Favourite over all, followed by Red Breast 12) Also, Knightrider Big Wheel crew, ASSEMBLE

At 6 yrs old I was in 1st grade, 5yo is usually Kindergarten. BUT it’s okay if you were 6yo and in Kindergarten…bless your heart. 😂 Hit up Vic (EWA) he might be able to point you in the right direction for barrel and grain info.

Is it more like Citron or Buddha Hand instead of lemon? I ask because fresh Citron normally has a more delicate smell almost like it is soften by a essence of vanilla with it.
