I discovered B-12 from watching Vice Grip Garage and I have to admit that it works amazing! I mistakenly left my two big snowblowers with the fuel turned on all year long between winters. They both went from always starting on the first pull, to not starting at all. In fact I could only get them to run if I used the electric start and would only keep running if fully choked. I dumped an entire can of B-12 in each one and let them run. After about 20 minutes they started coughing and chugging, I realized they needed the choke opened up. I let them run another 20 minutes and they're like new! They both start on the first pull again!

Don’t let it sit in there long Berrymans has acetone in it. It’s what there put in fingernail polish remover. Very strong don’t get it on the paint if your car it will dissolve paint. Gasoline is a strong solvent but acetone is even stronger

I wonder if dumping the old fuel. Putting fresh fuel from the pump, not what's left sitting in a fuel can. Wonder how that would have worked.

Simple answer. NO. experience one 30+ years ago. Dad poured seafoam into a boat motor that sat over the winter with oxygenated fuel in it (back when it first came out). Motor ran full choke, wide open throttle, barely running. Ran around lake for a half hour, and came home purring. I grabbed the can, read what it claimed(sounded like snake oil salesman) but came to understand later that in some cases can dissolve the varnish. Never used B12, but might be similar. My experience... FYI: commercial aircraft mechanic a&p, federal licensed. Ain't no punk kid whippersnapper.

Berryman's B-12 is is about 90% acetone & 10% toluene. Only use it when you're gonna burn up the whole tank of gas pretty quick (long trip). It does work, but if left in a seldom used vehicle, it will dissolve plastic, rubber, etc. I made the mistake of putting this religiously in a seldom used bronco and I ended up having to replace the fuel tank (plastic lining dissolved), replaced the float (completely gone), fuel filter (media shrunk to where it was filtering nothing), vent grommet (completely shrunk) and other assorted problems. I will still use it, but only when it goes in & then out, in short order. I did hook up a fuel injector cleaning apparatus and run a 2006 chevy silverado off it for one can, and the truck ran MUCH better; so it works well. But just take my advice.

The ethanol gas that I have been buying at work ( Sams Club) caused cold starting problems, loss of acceleration and rough engine idle. I tried a bottle of Sea Foam and it did a good job, but there was still issues. I tried the B-12 cleaner in my next refill of ethanol free gas. The motorcycle runs like new. A few years ago I bought an '02 Hyundai with a the 3.5L Sigma V6 with only 48K on it. I got it from a widower who said it was his wife's car. Great condition with very little corrosion for here in New England. It had likely sat in a garage for long stretches. Quite a bit of sludge came out which I removed by replacing a quart of oil with MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) for 500 miles. Next change about 1/4 can of Seafoam in the oil for 100 miles, then a flush on the next change. This cleaned things up gently and thoroughly. I continued to get a check engine light for the evaporative emission system, indicating replacement of the solenoid. I bought the part, but continued for awhile to just reset the code. I tried a can of B12 and noticed that the light came on less. Two more cans later and it has yet to return!! Note that thousands of miles with MMO in the gas didn't do this. My bet is that the solenoid was sticking from crud and the B12 freed it. The car may well have had stale gas at some point. I've used it two ways. Put a can in a full 18.5 gallon tank and let it soak over time to clean the whole fuel system, or add it to 1/4 tank or so before a long trip to burn through more concentrated levels for the injectors, plugs and carbon. I've heard suggestions that while effective, B12 shouldn't be overused as it has solvents that can be hard on plastic parts and gaskets. Any thoughts? Looking forward to your MMO review!!
@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs

I've used it as a high concentration cleaner as well, and it does help when used that way, but It isn't recommended as it can eat up rubber seals if used pure.

Berrymans calls it H.E.S.T. "High Energy Solvent Technology". They recommend 1 ounce per gallon of fuel. The cans are like 15 oz, so I pour what I need in an old Techron 32 ounce bottle, then go with their recommended mix. My push mower started surging, I put a double mix in it, second tank of it cleared it up. My vehicles get the Berryman mix once or twice a year, no issues.

Yes! Thank you! B12 is absolutley good for this use-case. It is a high nitrogen solvent that definitely removes carbon and can do so efficiently. I use It to find vacuum leaks, soak sparkplugs, and I even clean my gun barrels with it. You really get to see it work under those uses. Seafoam was originally designed to use in 2 Stroke Outboards. All it really does is lightly lube the upper end if used in a car. Same with Lucas. But I like B12 because I can see it dissolving carbon immediately.

Berryman's B-12 is a great carb cleaner but I'd be hesitant to let it set in the fuel system of an older vehicle. Seafoam is milder but still cleans. I use Berryman's when I'm taking a long drive and will burn the fuel, and Seafoam at 1 oz per gallon in all my cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, and gensets, and haven't had a fuel system problem since I started doing this. I'll also add a couple ounces of Seafoam to my oil the day before an oil change and put 50 to 100miles on the vehicle, and have no sludge buildup.

The Gumout has some PEA. It’s in the same type bottle as the Sea Foam And Berryman. The Sta Bil 360 amber color has some PEA in that too. I’m running the Sta Bil 360 Amber and my stuff is starting easier than SeaFoam and it very economical. Get ethanol free gas even if people have to drive to get. I don’t use the berryman because I think it would eat the rubber seals o rings on small Carburetor engines. I think once a year or ever 6 months in a vehicle wouldn’t hurt. All of a sudden it doesn't diesel and it lets me advance the timing much more 👍 I was worried about it blowing up from pinging, and it was putting down a solid 90hp 🤣 Now it doesn't diesel, so I know that I haven't been wasting my money and looking like a crackhead pouring all these elixers into my tank.

@ A P-- Yes, I am over 30. I have had a AARP card for about 10 years. Haha. Speaking of old oil additive commercials, one that I remember as a little kid from the late 1950's and early 1960's, are the black and white Bardahl oil additive ads. They seemed a little scary to me when I was young. There are several of these ads on KZbin, and be sure to look at the black and white ones.

You know how when you change your oil, the oil looks clear? If you put Fuel Injector cleaner in your gas will it make your oil get darker, or dirty faster? Also have you ever seen or heard of gas getting into your oil, and showing up on your dipstick? Is Fully synthetic oil better than conventional oil on older engines, I use 10w30
@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs
@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs Жыл бұрын
Lots of stuff to cover. Yes, gas can and does get into oil. If the car is running rich, unburnt gas will get into the oil. I recomend full synthetic oil for all cars these days, and fuel injector cleaner should not cause your oil to turn black. Hope this helps!

Be careful using Berrymans it has acetone in it. A very strong chemical that they put in fingernail polish remover. If I were to use it I be would plan on adding it if I had a long drive. Acetone can eat at gaskets and seals. Test it for yourself. Put some Berrymans in a glass bowl and toss in a rubber gasket or seal. Look at it in a week.

@fishingtheforecast
@fishingtheforecast 6 ай бұрын
I'm referrng to higher than recommended doses of it. From my experience it is true when you have an older vehicle with plastic on the pre-filter it can cause it to get brittle and end up stopping up the fuel pump. I've seen guys on KZbin run their motor solely on this. And I have had eat right through a primer bulb trying that on a weed eater there are two different things you want gas additive to do and that's clean the rings and clean the injectors. I've seen the engine with mystery oil before and after and there is absolutely no difference almost no reason to use this at all and as far as seafoam it's naphthalene and it it's trying to free the rings up and make the rings move freely it's really not an instantaneous thing like acetone of the berrymans. Put berryman's in a plastic cup and put seafoam in a plastic cup and see which one lasts the longest. So in some cases it is true that's why I mentioned it. Most of these things are gimmicks there's already tons of cleaners in gas to begin with. They're required to have them in there because it dissolves varnish and gunk that forms on the rings that lowers your compression. Some of things that I've seen were improved compression or seafoam restore and berryman's I like berrymans but it's a lot hotter than the rest of like I said try to come experiment. Berryman's eats right through it I know parts are stronger than plastic cups but it just gives you a sense of what it can do to some things.
