The story softly alludes to his ability to struggle because of how he was born. Born to struggle, and because of that, his ability to use struggling to live is simply unparamount to most. His genetics literally will not let him quit when it comes to him vs what is trying to kill him. 4/5 times he figures out using his willpower how to come out on top. Times like where he’s granted the berserker armor fill the rest of his time. Now, his ceiling of capability is probably higher than almost anyone else who’s sharing lives with him on Earth. He’s become unbeatable thanks to his struggles, and the armor was given to him by Flora (with the talisman) knowing it’s now his turn. Schierke with her magic abilities + Guts’ sheer ability to dominate his competition is one of the reason this seriescan stay so interesting.

So Griffith let them get away.

I believe he tried, but I’ve always surmised that skull knight is able to somehow avoid the effects. Like we see right before he escapes Griffiths power. And when he attacks void. I don’t think someone who has fought void and is his sworn enemy would think he’s going to get one over on his portal technique, but I wonder if he attacks void to force him to use his power and perhaps that power has a cool down. Idk that’s just my thoughts.
