***** I've read and really like all the one's you've mentioned, but berserk is just better overall imo, and as such is my personal favorite. Granted in terms of genre berserk only really holds the tragedy and action trophies and i like other series for their humor or romance and whatnot more than berserk's.

Chibi, the anime version of Berserk has a chance to receive a remake by Madhouse. One of the producers involved in the first Berserk anime is VAP who was also a producer for the HxH 90s version, the owner of Madhouse is VAP... This show is down Madhouses type of anime and I really think there will be a remake in the future now that HxH will be gone for a while :o

nino にの Nah, the OVAs aren't nearly the same deal. They're even more condensed, and while the level of violence/depravity/nudity is similar to the manga, it still leaves out a lot of stuff (and not animating the Black Dog Knights sub-arc is unforgivable, and it's been skipped both times the Golden Age has been animated thus far). Though if they go through a do a Jojo level of adaption, starting from Guardian of Desires and moving forward word for word, only cutting out the absolute bare minimum they absolutely have to, it would be truly awesome. Though....they're definitely gonna have to get it a good time slot and run it on a network with looser censoring guidelines, so only the absolute worst of worst is censored for the run.

Just so you know when you here people talk about The Golden Age Arc, myself included, MOST of us mean the entire flashback up to where the last arc leaves off which is around chapter 100. Now onto the volume...... You have no idea, I'll probably say this on most of your reviews but really it just gets better every chapter. AAAAAAND it gets worse, the tragic imagery and story just gets sadder and more brutal all the time, even the rape gets overshadowed by the sheer brutality and demonic shit that goes on later. Lastly I have a question/suggestion, If your going to do volume reviews (which I prefer) your going to catch up really fast, so what are you going to do when you do catch up and the chapters don't come out very often? I think that maybe with some of the other later chapters you should review individual chapters If you think they are worth enough time because that would lengthen the amount of time your reviewing berserk and would allow you to go more in depth with the more complex parts of the story. Well just my thoughts, good review and keep it up, you rock.

Chibi if you think Berserk is great read Oyasumi Punpun. It gets darker and darker as you go on and eventually mindfucks the End of Evangelion out of you and forces every single braincell you have to commit seppuku with Ichigo's sword covered in "bleach". Then suddenly a new twist. Your braincells fight over land in your brain and shit. Why? Because you let Rin die. But Rin didnt die, she was killed. But people die if they are killed. But the real question is: if you die, do you die in real life?

Oh man you have no idea, it just keeps getting better. For the next 15 volumes at least. I heartily recommend watching the 1999 anime series when you've finished the whole backstory. The recent movies are good too but feel sort of rushed. After that, be sure to check out KZbin user "hbi2k" and his hilarious "Berserk Abridged" series.

Haha, I've been waiting for that review. Honestly man, the series become even better with every volume. If you think this is dark, than you have to brace yourself for what's coming. The things that are about to happen, have NEVER BEEN SEEN OR DONE IN ANOTHER MANGA. No other manga, can compare to the story and quality of Berserk. if i remember correctly i thin guts was like 4 when shizu died, 8-9 when he was raped and 11 when he killed gambino, a lot of time skips happened here also you reading this has caused me to re-read berserk and i made it passed the golden age in 2 sittings so how the heck can you not read more! Yeah, don'T compare hxh with berserk, hxh still has the limitations inform of the shonen style. Togashi can't go full out but he still has his own unique style and manages to create an amazing and adult story with the shonen clishes.

The only thing that makes reading berserk manga better, is to match it with the music from the anime. I usually put on the song "Behelit" on a loop when ever a new chapter comes out, it creates the perfect atmosphere!

I'm 16 and I love berserk I grew up watching and reading things that is very dark for example spawn, twisted metal black, yu yu hakusho(has dark themes) and etc. Albeit it not as good as berserk(maybe spawn as a close second because they both have a few things in common) But the only complaint I hear for manga readers is that it's to dark and to me that says it that risk in such a indulging story that it's a shame it not as popular as some manga like one piece and I love one piece. This is a 20/10 in my opinion.

Since we readers are just shown only Gatts' mother hanging from that three, I've been always wondering who's Gatts' father and actually I came up with a theory that, as bizarre as it is, may still make some sense. Here it is: couldn't Gatt's father actually being Zodd? That would explain in part Gatts' superhuman strength and why Zodd seems to be destined to always cross paths with him; moreover, Zodd's human form have some common traits to Gatts (same hair, similar shape of ears ...). What do you guys think?

It's actually intentional. Prior to the Fantasia arc they're meant to be called the Band of the Hawk, while from around Fantasia onwards they're called the Band of the Falcon after they're formally recognized as the Midland regular army during the Kushan arc. (and there's a surprisingly deep reason behind the name change).

No, that is what people just like to believe. If you actually read the manga thoroughly you would have read the chapter note at the end of chapter 334. "We are going to translate 鷹(taka) as "falcon" now. instead of "hawk". The translators in the beginning couldn't have anticipated this, since the Japanese word carries both meanings. However, the later "Millennium Falcon Arc" and the capital city of "Falconia" are spelled out in katakana(ファルコソ). We know that "The Band of the Hawk" has grown on us all, and we are sad to see it go, but "The band of the Falcon" is our new lord and savior."

i have read up to volume 24 and the story arcs after golden age are kinda bland. i put the series down for a while on the arc where they meet the witch. might pick it back up now that you have reminded me of it. Although golden age arc is fucking amazing. that backstory is enough to put it in top 10 lists.

The only thing I don't like about this mange is the way the lips are drawn when you see a side ways view of the characters. And also Caska looks a bit weird at times, and I think it has to do with her head being a bit big sometimes, but I cam easily look past those small personal dislikes. This series is honestly amazing though. It is one of the only manga that doesn't hold your hand and shows you just how the world of Berserk is.

Read while you listen to Iron Maiden, Dance of the death is just perfect for this manga. Also there is the holy trinity of mangas for me is Berserk, Vinland Saga and Gantz. I cant find my favorite out of all. The quality of the art of gantz is comparable to berserk, and the development of Vinland saga is so amazing. You should check those two out.
