I picked up a gently used silver X30 and love it so far. It may not have the image quality of my X100T but it’s more enjoyable to use. The tilt-screen, sharp zoom lens and optical IS are things I appreciate and wish the X100 line had.

Nice review. I used the X20 for a couple of years and loved it. It's now the second camera to my wife who shoots the X-T1. I used the X20 almost exclusively in the time i was using it over my DSLR with top grade glass in the 16-85mm range. I never took the DSLR with me. The X20 delivered to me some of my nicest work to date at that time. I'd recommend any of the cameras from this family X10-30. I found the X20 to be just fantastic in nighttime street shooting which I do a lot of the time. I loved it so much I got the X100T. The overall feel of the cameras really invites me to do better stuff when I have the camera. I have a lot of gratitude for the time I spent with the X20. It's an awesome little buddy!

Thank you for the review Bert. I miss my days as a 35mm novice. My wife and I decided to upgrade from our Sony DSC-W50 to something my wife can still operate easily in auto mode, while I can experiment with some of the manual/custom settings and options. I did a lot of research, and your review helped a great deal in my final choice.

I like your informal personal sharing of why you chose the X30. Like you, I have some major cameras but I always like to have a good dependable camera with me at all times, especially since I do a lot of street type photography that this as well as the X10 excel in because of its size and lens. The X30 viewfinder has more precision and versatility.Thanks for sharing.

Toffe review Bert!

I've just bought the X30 as I wanted a smaller camera just to take out and about. I currently have the X-T1 and E-M1 so my choice was down to either the X30 or Stylus 1s and I prefer the look and feel of the X30. Great video and I'm looking forward to receiving the X30 :)

Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion about the Fujifilm X30. Do you have any advice to choose between the X30 or the X100 ? Thanks you

Bert, just a quick question - If You were to compare the FUJI EVF size to a viewfinder from i.e. 5d mark 2, is it much smaller?

Good laidback review. I used to have plans purchasing this beautiful monster, but after viewing other yoututbe reviews lamenting its neurotic AF I have changed my mind. The features are just stunning. What a pity.

I'm getting a Fujifilm but can't decide between X100T and X30. I like both cameras but I'm all for the more retro look in the X100T. However, I am a film student, and while I am getting a Fujifilm mainly to start photography, I feel that the wider range of video features like 60 fps in the X30 might come in handy. Any thoughts?
@maladussky24809 жыл бұрын
IncrediguyPro i'd go for the x30 since it takes good pictures, retro look, and of course its way cheaper than the 100t

Hmmm...price really isn't an issue. Sort of. I want to get the best one that will live up for its price. But now I've seen the X-T1 and the X-PRO1, and all hope of ever deciding and just setting on one has gone. Any further insight would be appreciated.

I still use the X10 for fun every now and then. It has horrible autofocus but the images are nice for a compact-ish camera. The OVF on the X10 is pretty much worthless- glad they went with an EVF on the X30. I'm looking forward to the arrival of the X40 and will probably upgrade to an X30 then. Nice review. Are you still using it?

@TheChill0ut10 жыл бұрын
Depends what you want to use it for, x30 is a compact and you can't change lenses x-a1 is interchangeable with different lenses....If it's is for travel I would go for a small and compact x30...for instance :)

Should be a decent option I think. My son had a lot of fun with an X10 when he was around that age.

you have become a Fuji guy :) I have the X20 and I like it - but did not go for the X30 - I choice the Panasonic LX100 - and later got the Canon G7X - I love the looks of the X20 - the X30 not as attractive as you said - but still same sensor and same lens -
@Remko10249 жыл бұрын
+igetsmart I have the x20 as well! Love it to bits! How do you like the LX100?
@igetsmart9 жыл бұрын
+Remko v.d. Wielen Likewise I like the X20 - wish Fuji would have kept the styling but improved internals - I really like the LX100 - not much larger then the X20 - about the size of the X30 - except with a larger sensor and faster lens - although a bit shorter 24-75mm F1.7-2.8 - it is a very nice camera for street shooting - just perfect size - good EVF - very fast focus - super in low light focusing as well - has 4K video - nice filters - - what I really miss is a Touch LCD with Touch Shutter and Tilt LCD - I expect the LX200 will have it - to buy a M43 lens 24-70mm F2.8 costs about $800-$1000 - so for $800 or less one gets the LX100 body with it :) yes not perfect - but Image Quality is better then the X30 and it is much better in low light performance and I say quite a bit faster in focusing especially in low light - So yes I still own my X20 - but I use my LX100 mostly for street shooting due to size - I do have the Canon G7X and the Canon G3X which are both relatively small especially the G7X - but the LX100 feels better in the hand - a bit larger and therefore a better grip - the G3X is a super zoom and front heavy and thicker then the LX100 and heavier - and not as fast in focusing - you will see a fairly big difference in the low light image quality from the X20/X30 to the LX100 - in perfect lighting not a huge difference as the X20/X30 do not have a lowpass filter so images quite sharp - but as soon as you need ISO higher then 400 you start to see the difference - Of course the LX100 is like the XE1/2 Xt1/10 in that it has no Mode Dial - like the Fuji's -

Nowadays i'd go for the x70 instead. Bigger sensor (APS-C) = better image quality. You loose the zoom but it fits in a pocket.
@manwhalejoe69627 жыл бұрын
To each his own. The X70 was actually too small* for me, and I found the lack of a viewfinder made it hard for me to compose properly. Also the lack of the zoom made it difficult to use in certain situations where I could not "zoom with my feet" due to safety or lack of access (ie at a graduation where your subject is on stage, at a cliff, at the zoo). So I feel that a full resolution photo using the optical zoom of the x30 at 100mm equiv is better than a cropped photo from the X70's 28mm equiv photo. I no longer have the X70 but still have the X30. And I pick my x30 over my x100S ninety percent of the time. If I know it will be super low light or poor light I might pick the x100S. But again, to each his own. Some find the x70's lack of zoom to be a push to their creativity; I find it an obstruction. (*too small = I had to use my index finger's fingernail to press the video record button and the left side of the 4 way control!)
