Russian forces have been trying to capture the city of Bakhmut since last summer. Ukrainian soldiers say Russian troops continue to launch daily attacks with small infantry units, despite suffering major losses. RFE/RL Ukrainian Service correspondent Maryan Kushnir reports from the frontline city.

@@philliphall5198 crass comment... time was needed to get the tanks etc together, cement unity on not just weapons but Europe's energy crisis etc.. and train Ukrainians to use it, so they in turn can train more people in Ukraine. Now yes Bakhmut may or may not fall, but Ukraine's allies are firmly on the one page now, the energy situation for now more stable, and allies united about moving forward with coordinated support for Ukraine. In a month's time the Ukrainian forces will be in a much better equipped situation. Allies had to ramp up production for them for the year ahead as well.
