Nissan actually made Mid4 before NSX being unveiled , although NSX probably already halfway in the development already ; it really was a shame Mid4 never made it into production , but I remember a certain technology from Mid4 was put into BNR32 GT-R .

And 300zx. It never made it to production due to cost concerns.

I got the impression that the front end of this car either inspired or was inspired by the NSX front end. The first Mid4 looked different but this one looks to me sort of like the front of the NSX mixed with all my favorite styling elements from the Ferrari 355. I'm so happy that they at least used the engine and I believe the all wheel steering system (I think this had all wheel steering right?) in the Fairlady Z/300ZX and the AWD system found a home in Skyline GTRs but this would have been the ultimate Nissan if they'd released it. I'd much rather drive this than an R35.

The ATTESA-ETS AWD system got into the GT-Rs from R32 onwards. The 3.0 Twin-Turbo V6 got into the Z32 300ZX. And the Super HICAS all-wheel steering system got into the Silvias from S13 onwards.

Was lucky enough to see this car in person at Nissan's heritage museum. Very intriguing car.
Great looking concept car. It's like the 1st gen NSX and the 1st gen 3000GT (with a Dodge Stealth wing) had a baby even though this car was shown before either of them.
J Cortez Honda was developing the NSX around the same time .

@@msengineeringdavid3702 are you sure? The Mid 4 was shown in 1987 but the nsx didnt go into production until 1995. Are you saying it took honda more than 8 years to develop the nsx?
looks like an unrefined NSX, wonder how much Honda borrowed from it.

Pininfarina created the design, and tried selling it to Nissan. Since Nissan didn't make it a production car, Pininfarina is free to use the same design and sell it to other companies. Honda did not copy it in anyway.

@@ack434 Hey, I know I’m a bit late to the conversation; but is there an official article that confirms this? I can’t seem to find one that does.
So why didn't they just go ahead and mass-produce this car? Why does Nissan have to FUCK US; by scrapping every car that was DECENT??? 🙄

Nissan should put it in production only thing I think I would change would be the tail lights the rest of it looks amazing reminds me of an NSX and my MR2 and the person who created it was the person who created the SKYLINEs

Nissan in its heyday! The Nissan of today is a sorry excuse.
@BrainBread lol you make me laugh. So we base on horsepower numbers in order to know which is which? lmao. Mid 4 is heavy, thus the potential performance will be a lot the same, even less. And it looks ugly lmao. props to the AWD system, but power to the rear wheels would make it much better.
@gabrielriley23885 жыл бұрын
This also goes along with toudou honda. That was the first concept that was only 155mph. The second one depends-ish. The the only ones that are lighter are 90-94 plus the type r variants. Otherwise beyond was heavier.and still had about 40-60 more horsepower (330 total) Besides, granted the top speed was not truly given out for the 2nd concept, i have found specs at least 160-180mph with 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. The NSX only got up to 175mph. After 168. And you can still take off the rev limiter. The specs are way above. Especially being from the 80’s. And one more thing is the 300zx was the fastest car around the track. (Other than obvious the NSX) and that would be also heaviar than the mid4. So Honda would have definitely had a better run for there money if this came out.
