On April 6th, 2024, we would catch the SB Misc Job, with BLE #878 and DMIR/BLE #862 return south with Ore Cars and Wisconsin Central Ballast Hopper Cars. The Misc Job would be testing the Ore Cars for a 5-Year Air Inspection. The Wisconsin Central Ballast Cars were taken south from Conneaut OH which was a nice treat.
On April 12th, 2024, after a Girard Local Run was performed to switch out EMSCO Plastics, they would hook back up to the cars they had brought north from Greenville at CE, and continue northward to Conneaut. We attempted to catch them again in Conneaut at the Overlook but was unsuccessful due to a NS Train blocking the crossing to get back to it.
On April 21st, 2024, we would venture down to the Control Point MD South to capture the NB Misc Job passing the classic Searchlight Signals here. Upon our arrival the Main had a Green Signal for the SB Iron Ore Train, so we figured they'd meet at KO. Well about 15-20 minutes the dispatcher had changed his mind to have them meet at MD. So the signal was dropped to red for the Mainline for the SB, as for the NB it was Red over Yellow for them to go in the siding. I have not seen any video or photos of a train going in the siding at MD South so I claim this as being the first. Please let me know in the comments if I am incorrect. After capturing them at MD South, we would rush up to MD North to capture the NB Misc Job meeting the SB Iron Ore Train. We would treated to a cool crew on both trains, as the conductor on the SB Iron Ore Train yelled "Yooooo" out the window as he passed, and the 862 started a Horn Battle with the Ore Train. After the meet, we would catch them departing and chase them northward to Conneaut OH. @CHQRails was out with me.
