Hello Peter. Well I only ran across this four years after you produced it! But I must agree with Kent; your entire shop is furniture quality. I just bought a couple of more Bessey clamps so I bought another of the $30 steel hanging brackets from Rockler. While they do a great job, they’re not nearly as eye-catching as yours! After I have acquired another 10 Bessey parallel clamps, I will definitely use your plan! Thanks as always. You remain “Dr. Clever.”

Really enjoyed this one Peter. I was a bit X Carved out - probably because i don't have one! I made a small clamp rack and did it by cutting slots into a piece of wood and then giving that a backboard for mounting. I also found that the domino made a perfect size slot for the Bessy kliklamps. I have 4 on the end of my bench so that they are always to hand.

Lovely clamp rack, nice design and execution, both with screws and dominos. We all have problems with wall space so to save mine I have mounted my rack at the highest location I can, i.e. at full reach of the length of the clamp. Gives me an additional 180cm of wall for all the small tools. (Still wish I had the set of clamps you have, and if I did I'd probably want them in the shot too!)

Hey Peter, what material is the wall behind that you use to mount your rack? Drywall, Gymsum, Concrete? I am wondering if my drywall could withstand the load of the heavy clamps.
@NewBritWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
Hi Georgie, I would not risk the weight of clamps like this on drywall unless you can locate a cross-member behind the board. My wall is brick with plaster on top. If you have drywall you can build a frame that goes from floor to ceiling and wide enough for your clamp rack. This can be secured to the drywall at several places but the weight of the clamps will be taken by the frame resting on the floor. You still have to take account of the forces that might apply at right angles to the drywall surface but with enough fixing of the frame to the drywall the risk can be minimised. I used this technique in my new workshop for the wood racks - take a look at this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYrZaIZnYtiHg9E

Hi Peter, lovely work, can I ask your opinion and advise, I purchased four Bessey K body 4foot clamps which arrived today, I read many reviews and was sure I had made the right decision, when laying the clamps out on my out feed table I placed up against the inside cheeks of the Bessey clamps a very accurate German made 90 degree square and to my surprise the Clamps where not parallel, actually out my several degrees, is this normal Peter in the respect that if tightened the clamp heads will become true 90's or is these clamps defective? Your views on this will be appreciated kind regards Louie Ulster Workshop Ireland.

Hi Peter. Could you tell me: do you prefer the Festool router table or the UJK? I've seen you use both..... Many thanks. Jaime. P.S Love the videos - really great work.
@NewBritWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
+Jaime Clifton Hi Jaime, The two router tables are designed for different user profiles. The Festool CMS-OF setup favours the mobile professional user as it can be packed up and put in and out of a van in next to no time. It provides accurate results and is easy to use. It is also particularly useful in the small workshop as it can be tucked in a corner or even folded up. The UJK table with its solid cast iron top is very much the centre piece solution for the workshop based user. It is very accurate, is easy to set up and adjust and produces excellent results. I put mine on castors as it was so difficult to move around. Both router tables produce the quality of results that I need in my standard of woodwork. It is the user and his working environment that should dictate which is the more suitable. Peter
@jaimeclifton90788 жыл бұрын
+New Brit Workshop (Peter) Thanks Peter, for the concise reply. I've recently bought the CMS but did wrestle for a long time over whether to buy a more static unit. I do have a small workshop so I believe I made the right choice, more so now with your advise too. Keep up the good work. Jaime. P.s. You should think about setting up a premium subscription service detailing longer projects. I would certainly purchase.
@NewBritWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
+Jaime Clifton Hi Jaime, It is always difficult to give definitive advice as it does so much depend on the exact circumstances of the user and his or her workshop. From what you have said you have made an excellent choice. The subscription service would require me to make more videos than I am doing now. I spend 6 days a week making videos and 2 hours every day (7 days a week) answering questions and so on. Cheers. Peter
