A few months ago, I bought a Hyundai Palisade calligraphy, and I just love it. It has the luxury feel I wanted and feels like driving a midsized car instead of a truck like the Traverse did. The Traverse V4 turbo was very noisy and when accelerating, it sound like it was really struggling. The Palisade V6 engine was much quieter and had more power. It is bigger than I need, but this may be my last vehicle, so I decided the luxury, roominess, and amazing drive made it my first choice.

I rode in a Grand Highland for the first time a few weeks ago. Pretty compliant and lots of power felt from the front passenger seat. I would like to point out that the ride quality is always dictated by the type of tires installed on that vehicle. I've always had Michellin's on all my vehicles and the ride quality is exceptional.

Until you have to repairs the transmission, then the labor cost will be high since the location of those parts are hidden in the rear end of the front hood. Good luck. I was looking for this as well but a mechanic quickly points out to me that issue. Unless you are leasing it for 3 years, then you may want to consider these factors

I agree, the only reason i would not get it is major space is missing. Almost no storage. And although reliable it's going to be interesting in the future if any major work is needed, the engine has to be removed to get behind the engine.

The problem with the ranking (and you don’t have a better way to do it bc everyone has things that want diff from others) is the metrics are equal weighted. I like how you out the data on screen so you can decide the areas you care more about and decide accordingly. I would be cool for you to put a tool on your website where you can rank the areas you care most about and the list will resort based upon preference. Suggestion: take the score for each area multiple x the weighted value. Then add up the scores. For example, the powertrain would have a higher percent weight compared to infotainment. The reason for this is that not all the areas reviewed have the same weighted value.

The CX-90 only has one year history. Completely new platform. Thye had a lot of recalls. The problem is how the scores are determined. If you go to their website the show how they determine reliability. The issue is what is considered a problem, and how much weight is given for the issues. In the review and testing world they may just look at how many times a car has to go in for service to determine initial dependability. In the real world having to bring your car in for transmission issues, is a lot different than having to bring the car in because there may be some software updates, which the CX-90 has had a lot of recalls for.

This type of breakdown is very helpful. I find myself often looking at 3 row mid size SUVs, even though i have zero interest in a third row, because a two row midsized SUV seems to be an e danfered species. Especially if you want more creature comforts. I wish there were more mid size two rows, with a backseat bench style. I can't imagine I'm alone because I know a lot of other moms who are in a place in life that we don't need a gazillion seats, but we like a higher and roomier ride than a sedan. Honestly, I wish Toyota would jazz up the 4runner. If they offered more luxury interior, but kept the boxy shape, I would get that.

Thanks for the broad comparison with categories.....very useful in prioritizing one's choices. Having said that I suggest not including predicted reliability in the total number. Have it as additional data. Historical reliability data virtually means nothing today. All OEMs are having issues. Weighting of the scores would be good too. Since we are talking automobiles....powertrain and driving experience should have a higher weight. Displays and rarely used gadgets don't make a great car. Once the newness wears off it will be the driving experience that determines if you keep it.

I was set to buy the CX-90, but test drove the 2025 Ascent on the recommendation from a co-worker. It feels like you're driving a vehicle half its size. I had to go back to mazda to test drive the CX-90 again after driving the Ascent, the CX-90 now felt colossal. I know that can be a plus or minus to some, I know people love the feel of bigger cars, but for people looking for a third row suv that feels more like driving a compact SUV, I don't think you can beat the Ascent, and it does it with having a better 3rd row then the CX90.

We all have different taste and priorities, so opinions differ. I was upgrading from my 2016 Hyundai Tuscon (which was an amazing dependable car), but as I am getting older, I was looking for new technology, more room and a luxury look & feel. The turbo engine on the Traverse and Acadian was very noisy and sounded as though it might blow up. The Traverse was more sporty and masculine, which is not what I wanted. The Palisade has more room, feels & looks more luxurious, has more power, is a very quiet, smooth ride and felt like driving a mid sized car, instead of a truck. I was amazed at the technology. I bought a dongle, so it now connects wirelessly to my phone. I am extremely happy with it.

I own a Pathfinder and shopped almost everything before buying it. I'm very happy with our purchase, and I'm surprised that the Pathfinder never makes any of these lists, especially when they are comparing top trims. We bought an SV, and anything from other manufacturers in the same price range seemed to offer a lot less value. The CX-90 was a never for us because of the strange mild hybrid system and brutal interior space. I'll never understand why Mazda didn't fix the one major issue people had with the CX-9: the lack of interior space. It'll turn off a lot of families.

The Highlander is definitely becoming “irrelevant” in the class in favor of the Grand Highlander and that’s kind of disappointing to see because it used to be one of the better ones in the class even despite its smaller sizing. I believe I’ve seen more palisades and tellurides than the Highlanders. Those are like the “highlanders of South Korea” if that makes sense. And it’s not a bad product it’s just the highlander is just fainting in the shadows. It looks good, I think it feels more luxurious than its larger sibling. We’ve sat in both and the GH feels better space wise but the highlander inside looks better and feels better in terms of overall premiumness. 25th anniversary maybe the last run for the highlander until Toyota decides to cut production of it.

Never would I have thought that the GM twins would take the #2 and 3 spots on the list away from the palisade and telluride which imo are still the best in the segment. The traverse could be better in terms of premiumness but ig that’s what the Acadia is for. I do want to ask though, how come the Acadia for a 4.5 for reliability and resale and the traverse a 5? Now, ik the 4 cylinders have a lot of mixed reviews because they don’t sound as good and for a vehicle of this size a turbo 4 is quite small. But remember Subaru, did this with the ascent and it still seems to be going strong but not every 4 cylinder is the same. Who knows how reliable these will be.

Why do he Chevy and GMC have different reliability scores? They’re the same powertrain

Sounds like you have questions about how reliability is determined. Check out www.carconfections.com/reliability

In the end although the traverse is great in space and tech, it's just overpriced like the Toyota Grand Highlander and feels cheap inside. The Palisade and Telluride continue to be the top choice. We'll choose the Pathfinder if i can get a good deal though.

Not sure how a TGH even makes the list given it's been on stop order forever due to quality issues.

They're back in dealerships now but there will likely be a big backlog of people who reserved them

To the person that wrote that the explorer is not better than the Toyota. The explorer is better technology better luxury better performance better handling and the Toyota can take the cheese with everything else but I lease my car so I don’t care about a lot of these categories like resale value, I make enough money where I don’t give a shit about gas mileage

I looked at the chevy, also apart of the redits and facebook. The size and supercruise is nice but thats where it ends. There are issues with the third row folding, transmission and engines. Never buy a first year new engine

No Hyundai Sante Fe in the list?
@CarConfectionsАй бұрын
Due to size and other factors that is considered a class below these models
@robautry3490Ай бұрын
I agree with several people. The traverse and Acadia are having major problems. Reliability is terrible. Mazda should be higher for sure.

very surprised that the Hyundai Santa Fe was not in your top 10

Technically, it is considered a class below (which we will also be looking at soon) but could be considered against these models if third row or max space is not a priority
