I have special love for metal fountain pens, mechanical watches, stainless steel biker rings, brass cowboy buckles and trench lighters (zippo style or imco style), used to work with leather so i make my own belts and other leather accessories. i crafted a leather belt pouch for my zorro 915s (it is my EDC lighter)

+1 for fuel canister. Instead of guessing how much fuel should you pour, just measure it with the tank. 1 full tank is 1 full zippo

Made it , ferro rod scrapper from a paracord survival bracelet from the dollar store. It’s tucked into the buckle part of it. Pulled it out trimmed it to fit the insert.

great list. never thought the ferro scraper from buckles would be a use as a zippo tool. going to add one to mine. i made myself a zippo pouch that includes the fuel canister cuz no one makes one.

Yeah sweet little idea. I had to trim the edges with clippers to fit the insert just right. Sanded it after to not have sharp edges. Yeah my pouch the tank just clips on top

I wonder... How long the flint wheel or strike wheel (black circle) lasts on a zippo. Do we ever need to replace it?

I had to replace one once after seeing how long a full Zippo would stay flaming for. After I finished it no longer sparked. (Don't do this, it gets super hot and start spitting flames.)

I used the same zippo for 10 years never needed a new strike wheel. They are cheap and easy to replace anyways. Don’t do what he did. Lol the heat ruins the hardness of the wheel. Causing it not to strike

Have a question if you could possibly have a quick read? I received my latest Zippos and they arrived in separate white packaging boxes (one per lighter) with the normal black box inside each one. So it's a white box like the ones that the butane inserts come with and inside is the standard black box (which seems as genuine as I can tell from your videos). They have the P65 warning on the black box at the bottom so I assume they came from Canada? - but also means I can't see any of the labels at the bottom of the box because the sticker covers it. But also the barcode sticker is on the outer white box not the black box (white box is labeled with Zippo on the front and address etc. on back similar to the black box). Have you seen the white outer boxes?? I could not find any image of them online so was suspicious... plus with the P65 sticker covering the labels on the black box. The closest I could find online was a bulk box of many lighters in a white Zippo box.

Yup the white sleeve is common. Order 10 zippos even comes in a white carton.

Great channel!, I've got my first Zippo a couple weeks ago as a gift & now I'm hooked. Do you have any tips on beginning collecting Zippo's for beginners? I'm trying to decide if I should buy new from Zippo directly, or find a vintage one on Ebay (Although shipping is pricey to Canada).

@@bobfalcon2756 yeah I’m Canadian too. Sault Ste. Marie. Honestly there’s some new ones cheaper on Amazon then zippo.ca. Vintage ones just find them at garage sales , pawn shops , or Facebook market place. People are crazy on eBay what they want for vintage ones. I prefer new anyways.

I'm new to collecting Zippos and recently bought a brushed chrome zippo from March 1986, with the original insert. Should I repack the insert, and / or replace the wick or flint? Or no need?
