Currently I'd recommend the Sleipnir over the Deathstrike. When the video was made, the meta wasn't very brawl friendly which contributed to the Scorch not making this list. Now assault brawling is more relevant so it's not a bad choice. I think it still would not make a top 5 list though.
@johnmoore85996 жыл бұрын
MC-II-2 made the Scorch less viable because it can boat the Scorch brawl build better. Short range is less effective for the build due to the heavy gauss IS clan mechs like the Annihilator and better mid-range IS weapon systems. It's still a fun build when it works. It's just hit or miss in solo and group queue, heavily dependent upon proper positioning and the ability to cool off after a kill since the build is quite hot.
@SkinnyBlackout6 жыл бұрын
The mad cat mk2 did not fill the scorch role. The cat has HORRIBLE hitboxes, it absolutely can not survive in an intense brawl and it can not face tank the enemy. The mad cat is good at medium-long range and you should only do builds that fit this playstyle. In short range you will ALWAYS be outperformed by splat scorch, you will die in 3-4 hits and you won't be able to deal sufficient damage with splat cat due to marauders superb hitboxes. As far as the performance in QP goes, short range builds work there much more often, whereas laser vomit dominates the group play. Also, while the marauder can't really boat gauss+ laser vomit builds like the mad cat, it excels in doing highly efficient laser vomit with 6 er mediums+ 2 HLLs, 28 double heatsinks and a staggering 82KPH top speed on top of having better hitboxes. You can also use the D variant with 2 gauss and 2 ERLLs with ECM which works wonders in FP. The mad cat on the other hand is only viable because of the gauss+laser vomit loadout. While you can do good with dakka variant you will never outperform the meta loadout. That's why the marauder chassis are objectively better than the mad cat and if you want to brawl you should absolutely buy the scorch. There is only one mech that can outperform the scorch in brawling and that's the annihilator with heavy gauss and laser vomit.

I agree the MCII-2 is the better brawler. The main advantage I think for the MCII is the JJs which helps to spread return fire.
@SkinnyBlackout6 жыл бұрын
Jumpjets on an assault mech are completely useless, fact. It's literally a waste of space. I'd put heatsinks or ammo any day of the week over the jumpjets.
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
When you know you're going to get shot back, tap your JJs but don't lift off while moving forward. You should see more return fire going to legs and arms. Works pretty well. Another thing is JJs help you to turn faster, great when you've got a light behind you.

I like it, just bought it today. One thing I wish it had was some energy heat quirks like the WLF-2. I've been finding its damage output over the typical 4-5 minutes of combat in a solo game is a bit limited. Overall I have better games with the WLF-2 I think.

I use 4MPLs to get a better engine, but I agree. And the Grinner's ECM is essential for me, so I don't use the other WLFs. I prefer to be swift and unseen :) I was able to do 1K damage one or two times with it.

Blood Asp will have to give up some heatsinks and JJ to do the same 80 pt alpha build that you see on the DS. The BAS 72 pt alpha build is a good balance of DPS and alpha size, so it's close but not the exact same.

For a light mech I love the Kit Fox Purifier. It just works and is very versatile. Just my opinion, but I have hundreds of hours in it and it performs well. Current build x4 ERML, x2 LMG, ECM, x3 AMS with 3 tons of ammo and no jj.

Yes very strong. I am having a lot of fun running it with 6x spl, full jjs, ecm and dual ams with 3t ammo. I poptart whenever possible, including behind teammates for extra firepower the enemy isn't expecting. Build is strong fighting other lights too. Slow ones are screwed, and fast ones usually get legged after 2-3 well placed shots.

I just bought one and it's great! I'm running five MLs with no MGs but otherwise basically the same. A little hot but it's shockingly good at ridge peeking and it's anti-LRM/ATM capabilities have been the difference between victory and defeat more than once. If they ever introduce and alternative toggle so that AMS and LAMS aren't tied together I'm definitely adding LAMS just for those matches where the rain is endless.

When I saw the title I immediately thought Sleipnir, Pakhet, and Deathstrike. I think the Esprit would be bit of a waste of money if you already have the Virago, so I'd kick it off and put the Pakhet in its place. I think you might want to do a medium/light hero video though, as some people like faster playstyles and might not be attracted to the heavier mechs.
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
I kinda think mediums aren't big CBill earners that's why. There are some great light / medium heroes when compared to their light/med counterparts, but they don't get big games as often. When I look at my medium hero purchases, I think none of them have been really worth the MCs in terms of return on investment. Some have been interesting to play though. That's why I bought the WLF-GR today. I almost did group EBJ-EC and HBR-VI together. But after thinking about it for a while EBJ-EC gives you pretty legit UAC options whereas the HBR's ballistic options are worse generally. The VI also gets good energy quirks with its set-of-8 omnipods as I said. So because of these two reasons I think they differentiate enough and I decided to separate them. In some ways I agree though that if you have either the EC or VI, you don't really need the other because currently their best builds are similar.

I've always been more comfortable in medium mechs to the point that my Black Widow has slightly worse stats than my Pakhet. My Bushwacker BSW-X1(S) has been a powerhouse for me as well, with better stats than even my Pakhet. While I don't own the Bushwacker hero High Roller (my X1 has the c-bill bonus), I would likely also outperform many of my heavies with it because I can fit my X1 build on it (usually 2xAC10s). If you're more comfortable with medium mechs the High Roller and Pakhet can compete with the heavies, and as a bonus they're powerful mechs for faction play scouting.

As a fan of the novels i had to buy the Yen-Lo-Wang, the Grinner, Kuroi Kiri and Tempest, all of which are good choices in their respective weight class, though i miss jump jets on a light probably the most. The "Wang" is famous until today and Centurions are great for learning torso twist. Grinner is almost the same as the other Wolfhounds, so if you don´t need the C-Bill bonus you don´t need it. Kuroi Kiri is rather standard too, the Roc offers more diversion to the other Phoenix Hawk chassis, so the KK in the end is the same as the Grinner: standard chassis can do the same. The Tempest is unique as it can carry an ECM, one of very few IS heavies able to do so, definitely a mech with potential, i use it with LRMs but it is often seen with MRMs. Top Dog does pretty much the same as one of the standard versions, just with unique paint job and C-Bill boost. Jester is a nice mech, but i went for the Butterbee, using it as a team support mech, often to great effect, it´s one of the most successful mechs i own.

Solid list. Scorch and Pakhet are also excellent Heroes to buy for c-bill farming. Particularly for players who may favor missile builds. And like others mentioned, Grinner and Purifier are great light Heroes. The Scorch is of course one of the game's most devastating brawlers with its 'bruiser' build of 2x LB20X and 4X srm6+a. It can also run the dual gauss, dual erml build popular with some on MADIICs (usually the D). Or various lrm and atm builds for more cautious potato play. The Pakhet can run any Clan missile build, all the way up to 8x srm4+a or 8x srm6 or dual atm12s... Other solid builds like 2x erppc with 2x hml, or dakka or laser boating/vomit of some sort are all solid bets. It also lets you farm free mech bays in FP Scouting by jumping from loyalty contract to contract now that there is no 7 day wait or reputation penalty for switching. Run this thing with streaks in scouting and rack up 250+ match scores all day long. If there's a #5a that deserves to be on this list, I think it's the Pakhet. - Shootey. :)
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
Scorch as others have mentioned is still good, just weaker than the MAD-IIC and MAD-IIC-A. Assault brawl is inconsistent, depends a lot on your teammates to push and the map you get. If you get a team that's content with sitting back and trade at midrange, then assault brawlers often have nothing to do.

Thanks for releasing this video! I already bought a Purifier but I've been hesitant to get anything else. As for recommendations, I love my TDK. Four MLs, XL240 with max mobility and durability and you can be a terror. I will admit that it is a bit disappointing that you get disarmed easily though. I also have the Grinner which is pretty good and would be a nice fit for anybody who likes the WLF-2. The Huginn is pretty bad tbh. It wasn't great before the clans and it is even worse now. The only way I ever see it being better if is they allow clan weapons to be mounted on IS mechs in the future. I absolutely regret buying that one.
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
yw :) Grinner's a good buy. My WLF-2 usually does better because the energy heatgen quirk allows it to output more damage over the course of the game. Overall hero lights I feel are usually not worth it unless you like lights. With a CBill bonus, even a good hero light will often end up with the same CBill earnings as a good non-hero heavy/assault.

My favorite hero Mech is the Cataphract CTF-IM "Ilya Muromets" for one simple reason. At the time I bought it it was the only Mech in MWO that could carry three AC/10's. The combination of the heavy punch of three AC/10's and the rapid fire, along with manageable heat make it one of my favorite "Dakka" builds.

I was thinking about the IM for this sale, but the classic triple 10 build makes you run a slow XL and you have to expose the low and wide left arm. There's no other builds on the IM that I can think of that isn't just a duplicate of another CTF....

I had not considered the EBJ hero. Perhaps I need to reconsider. I have all the others. Probably time to cull my LBKs and HBRs down to the C-bill bonus variants since I have too many of those mechs. I haven't touched the Black Knight since your video on it. The Piranha hero isn't in the sale or it would have probably made your list. The Piranha is due for another nerf at some point, but all the streak boats around due to the Flea are keeping the Piranhas in check to an extent. I expect July will be interesting since the Piranha comes out for C-bills then.

The Cipher would make it here - with the caveat that you have to be a decent light pilot. Lots of people aren't good light pilots and they'll earn more with a hero heavy/assault :) Be careful when you sell mechs though, even though LBKs are omnis, PGI has given set-of-8 quirks to specific omnis that made them better.

I'd run the 2xUAC10 2xERPPC or 2xGauss 2xLPL build on the Scorch at the moment. Assault brawl is kind of weak right now but of course these kinds of builds will have their moments. Midrange dakka or laser vomit is going to be more generally useful. However my issue with the Scorch is that the MAD-IIC and MAD-IIC-A are better. I prefer the classic though, LB 20s and SRM 6s. Whatever you do with it the mech is durable and does damage a plenty.

Ahh, cool. :) Thanks... I know I've really enjoyed the Scorch and with an aggressive team the mech really does well with the brawling build. But for a less well, good, player they can still have a good result I think with 4 LRM 15s or 20s and 2 LPLs, or maybe ER PPCs but those require too much aiming for a less skilled player. But as they get better they can move towards a more brawling based build or even do a sort of mid range version of it with ATMs and perhaps some lighter ballistics like LB 5s or whatever... But the mech has good versatility and can be used by skilled players and potatoes alike.

@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
Depends on your playstyle I guess. Ghillie has ECM and carries OK firepower. Maybe a UAC10 ERML build. Sparky and Lacerator for laser poke. High Roller could do a nice 4xERML 2xUAC5 build.
@deanclark87836 жыл бұрын
For an impressively durable mech the High Roller should be a good option, especially when the survival skill nodes are taken. While as I mentioned in an earlier post that I own the BSW-X1(S) so I don't own the High Roller, many of the builds I use in it can fit the High Roller: Dual AC10, Dual LB10X, AC20+SNPPC, HGauss, and Dual RAC5s to name a few builds. Plus with the three energy hardpoints in the arm you can tweak a build to add an extra 3 ton, 15 point alpha (triple MLs).
@alecschmidt72416 жыл бұрын
I am loving both my High Roller and BSW-X1(S). The High Roller works better if you like mid range fire support or skirmishing (big ballistic/double uac plus 4 energy), and the BSW-X1(S) is a better brawler (AC20+multiple missile pods). I regularly out-duel heavies because of their insane durability. Weapon convergence for the torso mounts is fantastic, but peaking can be dangerous with a missile build because of the prominent torso launcher. They don't have weapon quirks so inevitably something will specialize better than the Bushwhacker, but nothing in the weight class has the same survivability.

Assault brawl is not in a great state at the moment due to agility nerfs and SRM+Artemis nerf. They have their moments but they're inconsistent. Getting a map like Polar, Alpine or Grim with lots of open spaces and long to midrange lines of sight, assault brawlers have to spend a lot of time hiding and doing not very much or spend a lot of time finding attack angles where they're not getting shot by 4 enemy mechs at the same time.

Howz Deathstrike these dayz?
@BlackhawkSC5 жыл бұрын
It's good, but not as good as before because of the meta shift in the upper tiers to more DPS instead of alpha size. In the lower tiers, midrange alpha size matters more since teams are more passive and stay at range.

I see what your mean, but if I don't have enough MC, which Varient of EBJ do you suggest?
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
EBJ-A makes you buy the least number of omnipods to make the laser vomit build.
@jeffhu83666 жыл бұрын
BlackhawkSC Yeah, and i guess it can run the other helpful build with ultra AC 10 and two ultra AC 5, that's the only two variable build EBJ can use well?
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
If you don't have the Espirit de Corps (EDC) hero, you won't be able to do the 10/5 build very well due to lack of ammo. This is because you need a 3rd ballistic hardpoint and that can only be found on the LA on the non-hero omnipods. If you do that then you have to armor up the LA, which causes you to lose some tonnage. You can do 2xUAC10 and 3xERMLs as an alternative without the EDC omnipods.

BlackhawkSC I think I can have enough tonnage for ammo by lower the armor on the leg. Is leg armor really important in the game?
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
@@jeffhu8366 yes it's more important than ever now for two reasons. Small lights like Piranhas and Fleas like to hug really close to targets so they can't get shot by torso weapons. When they're that close, they can only shoot what's in front of them, which is legs. Second because of the way LRMs arc downwards, whenever you're running away from LRMs, they'll mostly hit legs. Since the LRM buffs a few months ago, more people are carrying them. Players have always done things like put in a shot on the leg to test leg armor by seeing how much the color changes with a small amount of damage. They know a lot of players skimp on legs.

Hi do you have skill guides?
@BlackhawkSC5 жыл бұрын
I have a skill tree guide before they redid a lot of the values. So maybe another one is in order

All the mechs listed are heavies or assaults, so I think this list is s bit biased.
@BlackhawkSC6 жыл бұрын
None of the lights and mediums really pay for themselves. That is, you probably would earn more over time using one of the CBill variants.

What about the Parana?

I think the PIR hero gets outperformed by the -1 but it's also a good choice

K-9 with light gauss(2,5t ammo) + 2 medium lasers. With all skills in range and cooldown you got an range of 1090m and 1/3 of the regulary gauss cooldown. He is the one and only hero mech in this game=D

If you engage at long range, how will the K9 apprehend the offending fool?
