Sounds like my 86 f350 4x4. It's got a 6.9 that's been completely rebuilt. Except it doesn't smoke like yours. You guys have some seriously cool diesels. Keep the vids coming, they're usually quite entertaining
@ThisGuysStuffandStuff6 жыл бұрын
it probably doesn't smoke like this, because this engine is messed up, we've been rebuilding it and it actually had a blown injector. and this still ran haha.
@OBS_Ford_Diesels_Inc6 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's pretty bad. Maybe that injector was why it sounded like it was loping at first. We used to have a 87 f250 4x4, 4 speed manual. In it's last days it smoked like that blue truck. Was in our family since 1988, had around 450,000 miles when we retired it. Everything was original, except clutch and rear leaf springs. Had the heads rebuilt with new gaskets. It sure took an awful lot of abuse over it's life but still ran when we junked it

Miss ours... I learned on an 86 6.9 4 speed 4x4 4.10 gears. I know that sound all too well. Had the pump turned up to run with the 7.3's of the day worked great until about 110k miles and the middle bank of cylinders wanted to go for a walk... That was their weak link, needing that special additive shit to keep cavitation down on the cylinder walls in the water jacket.
@ThisGuysStuffandStuff6 жыл бұрын
yup thats the killer of those 7.3's

I've owned a 6.5 a 24 v Cummins but recently got a odd ball 1988 f250 6.9/c6 4wd combo most 88 had a 7.3. buy far my favorite diesel rn.

Wow that truck is awesome man I just bought a 84 f250 6.9idi like 5 days ago and can't stop looking out the window looking at it lol I Mainly bought it for Hauling livestock I know they are underpowered to today's diesels but I dont care 6.9s engines have a good reputation and love the sound of them. Cool truck man
@ThisGuysStuffandStuff6 жыл бұрын
yeah, as long as it has been taken care of it will run for ever. ( that goes for most engines really) but they are very stout engines

I know a guy that earns about a million annually. His present truck is a 1976 ford F-150 I think. It's so ratty and has had panels, bed, cab, engine, transmission from so many other trucks swapped on that it's hard to tell. It's reached the point again on it's present 6 cylinder motor that I don't think it can handle yet another trip up north wisconsin for clearing land again. He always knew what was best for long lasting tough rugged service. But he always demolishes a bed and a fender on each tree clearing / boulder removal weekend of work. The stacks of leafs in the springs, the reinforcements welded here and there...The heavy axles..."it just doesn't look like a truck anymore today...I think this is it for the old girl - I think you've wrung out all the work she had in 'er." I said. So he said "Find me a new truck then." I located a Chevy 2500HD Duramax turbodiesel with 5 sp allison trans, 4x4, extended cab at a dealer 30 - some miles away. We went n got it. He wanted a place to set his big coffee mug. He opened the tool box on the work truck, grabbed a framing hammer and chopped a pocket into the soft cushiony fancy pretty dashboard right there at the dealer. Sat his coffee mug into there. Then he floored it and left. That truck was a pile of crap. It sits unused and unloved.

I am considering buying an '84, F250, odometer shows 54K and change, not sure if it's 154, 254, 354, etc. Has standard cab, 4spd manual trans, 4WD; body/frame are completely rust free, but body has some minor dings/scratches, duel fuel tanks, heavy duty headache rack, and tailgate is MIA. Windshield is badly cracked, and top/center of dash has a 6, or 7 inch diameter hole (??), stock wheels/tires. Seller said he last started it a couple years ago, but it needs new glow plugs. He wants $1000 for it, but I would offer much less. Engine/engine bay has typical, layers of caked-on, crud. Please, do you think it's worth salvaging/resurrecting as a firewood truck, and occasional car hauler? I watched your 6.9L engine rebuild videos, to get an idea of the parts expense, but if you mentioned it, I missed it. Please can you list all the parts, parts' costs for your 6.9L rebuild? Thanks from AZ.
@ThisGuysStuffandStuff5 жыл бұрын
honestly unless it is burning oil or has lots of white smoke. the engine is fine and worth at least 500 for it alone. Depends on the trany and the rest of the drive train, but 1000 isn't bad. If it isn't running righ now i'd say that a good offer woud be 500 to 800 depending if you can start it and drive it. And a 6.9 will run on 7 cylinders and still pull a trailer, albeit slowly. The one in the video was running on 7 cylinders most of the time. a slandered rebuild is 1,100 -1,200. The more expensive one will come with the cam shaft, rod barings, crank shaft barings, cam barings, lifters, push rods, and ARP head studs i belive. honestly, one reason why i like 6.9's is that they can be beat to hell, but still work. Even if its on it's last legs it will still do everything you need it to.

yup OG exhaust, just cut off half way down the truck, these engines sound great straight pipped, same with 6.2"s

nice, this wasn't permanent, so make sure you angle the exhaust at least down or out of the truck, exhaust isn't the best for the undercarriage hahah

This Guy's Stuff and Stuff meh... ive had quite a many 6.9s last that long. lol as long as there maintained well they last pretty long ive seen many last to the 1 mill miles mark. ao i could see 600k just fine plus who would lie about that many miles? most would rather say that it has "29k original miles " because of the 5 digit odometer
@ThisGuysStuffandStuff7 жыл бұрын
