@@blowc1612 I am an RDJ fan and not a fan of Fraser but I think RDJ has been really popular since he was young and his downfall was caused by his own addiction. (normal for any human being tbh to have any addiction.) Fraser's downfall was caused by his rejection to a certain sexual harrassment and he was banned from everything. He has no control over it and that's why I think it weighs more than RDJ's fight against his addiction.

Yeah, I think it makes sense though. Historical figures are able to be impersonated to an insane detail. Which I think lets actors go very deep in their performance. I think it gives them an edge over fictional characters. And yeah the trend is probably going to continue this year.

It's because you can compare the actor to the real person and see how good of a job they did imitating them. Not downplaying these actors but I think it's actually harder and more impressive to create a believable and interesting character out of nothing.

I remember watching Manchester by the Sea in a smaller cinema in 2017, never even knew it was nominated for the Oscars though. Leaving the cinema so deeply hurt and raw as I myself would have been hit by what happens in the movie. I am still thinking about it from time to time.
