One advice I can add is if possible chose an unit with two ducts.

R2D2 is the star wars robot you're thinking of. I lived in a studio and I had 1 like that , it did the job . An artsy friend painted a waterfall on it for me . It looked awesome 👌

I've tried them all. Frigidaire 12k BTU is the best and delivers the COLDEST air.

Lol. I knew a guy who bought a portable AC on sale and it instantly started leaking water, by sunrise while he was sleeping the water already seeped into the apartment below and he woke up to a veritable flood, bucketing out all the excess water. . . But I still think if you buy it brand new, it can work. At least where you live it gives you more natural sunlight (AC not blocking window) and you can open the window(s) for fresh air when it's not too hot.

Omg that’s awful!!! Luckily mine would leak if I moved the ac after it had been running for a long time. I believe the delivery man probably cracked the box inside it when they delivered it and over time it just got worse who knows but no problems yet with this one

More BTU is better. Two 12,000 BTU AC is more than enough for most NY apartments. Or, one 12,000 BTU for the main room and a 10,000 or less for the bedroom. I go with 12,000 BTU or better so I need not guess. I like it cold 🥶

Portable AC are terrible unless they are Dual HOSE. Single hose is very bad. Single hose is less efficient by far. Best to have the compressor outside the room.

Never heard of a dual hose!

@@joymae Dual hose is the best but I have no idea the reason why the stores sell us the cheap single hose models

🎆🏖You can probably make that plastic window thing with any piece of hard clear plastic like a bottle (if you can get it flat) and hot glue and a tube of silicone. Greeeat tip on the L bracket. If youre on the ground floor make sure to screw in the AC or at least out a peice of wood ontop so nobody can get the window to open and oush the ac in to get i to the house, if its a vertical window.

It’s screwed into the glass. The contractor wanted to seal it shut

Do you feel like it keeps your room cold? My window unit just broke and I’m looking to switch to a portable one!

I think for a portable/window ac it does the best that it can do

You should put some starwars sticker ls or face on it lol Also if its from amazon you can schedule a pickup and then just buy a diff one if you want :) If you live in an area where power goes out a small batter powered fan might be great to have around. Nyc usually has steady power tho I think
