Ok so as a Native New Yorker you took up too much time talking about "feather" and being sponsored and all I really wanted was a tour of your apartment. If you want to maximize bed space buy the storage boxes that you need to put everything. You will be able to put away so much more. I'm looking at your all-white bed and thought about a gold framed mirror right above it. Maybe a small one or even a nice painting/poster. I also imagine that the view from your bed is beautiful especially if it's raining or snowing. Your use of plants is really nice, and they are large and will really provide much oxygen to your home. The mirror is huge but there is no decorative frame, so it looks a little bland but it's still nice. Plant on the ceiling looks really nice and they look great in N.Y. bathrooms. Your sofa area looks great and a good idea that you got a 5 ft sofa to fit the space. The living room does need more color. Look into wall paper with beautiful patterns. Just that wall behind your sofa would look great with some type of wall paper design. The way you separated your space with the dresser is nice but you can look into some nice flat dividers to place behind your dresser like wicker, or a white divider with a design pattern. Or even place some floor to ceiling sheer curtains would look really nice. Right over "frody's?" doggy bowls you could put some small wooden floating shelves to put keys or hooks for your dogs leash and a bowl for your masks. The little closet that used to be a fireplace can use a pop of color maybe dusty orange or dark orange or even green. You should have given us a better view of your bathroom. You just gave us bits and pieces of it and went around it so I didn't get a good look at it, but I think it's nice. The pink tiles are from the 1950s. Needs one plant and wall paper. Hang a eucalyptus plant in your shower. It will smell like a spa. Probably need one more organizer or floor to ceiling shelf. FYI - crystals do not cleanse. They are an invitation to negative spirits of which there are many in N.Y. tenements so be careful with placing a lot of crystals in your home. Thank you so much Joy for sharing your beautiful space with us. You did a great job.

As a longtime US Open attendee and Flushing resident, the US Open fan week is the #1 thing I look forward to every year and the best event to happen in Flushing-- you get to see all the best/world renown/your favorite tennis players FOR FREE! And yea you're never going to beat the kids to a player's autograph but I'd rather see a player sign for a kid than an autograph hunter who ruins the whole experience my one hot take about US open - the Ace Paloma is low key better than the Honey Deuce 😉

You made a great decision based on solid valid reasons. If you can live in NYC you can live anywhere and be successful. Too many sacrifices to live here--but safety should never be one of those sacrifices. Brooklyn has become just as expensive if not more unreasonable. You would never be able to invest and/or buy a home down the road.

"Unless you grew up in a town outside of the city" then having a friend group is possible...Must I say POSSIBLE but NOT probable. I grew up in long island all my life and by the time I moved out at 28, I did not have a single friend group to claim. Not that I never had any but people grow apart and you are constantly changing. It really is hard to break into new people there.

Do you ever worry about the danger you cause to yourself, dog, and everyone else in your building when you put objects on the fire escape that could catch on fire and also result in blocking an exit? You just don’t care? That’s wild entitlement.

You should have kept walking west to Riverside park. I call it the suburbs of Manhattan because no one knows it exists, but it’s absolutely beautiful and has of some of the most expensive and exclusive pre-war mansions and condos in the entire city. The UWS in general is very affluent but the residents are surprisingly chill and friendly.

I've explored it more since moving back to New York City. I've actually explored so many neighborhoods since being back I'm less scared to travel outside my block I didn't realize how stuck I was until I left.

Can you explain the membership levels? idk if they've changed but its single club, Reginal - just in your state (I'm in CA) , All access or destination? that's where I get confused what does all access exclude? to international?
@joymae22 күн бұрын
Its single access (for that club only). All Access which is most clubs. Destination which includes clubs like Hudson Yards, Sports Clubs, etc. Lastly there is E-Club for places like Greenwich, Hudson Yards, and a location in London. E Clubs you get a private changing room with your own food and beverages, a personal trainer, and security is done through your thumbprint.

Hi Joy, thank you for your honest account of NYC. I recently visited for the first time from Australia. Can I say I hated New York. I felt uneasy the whole time I was there. The loud sounds, the people were not friendly, social problems everywhere, weed smell everywhere and the divide between rich and poor was terrible. As a little girl I thought the big apple was the place to be. Unfortunately, it’s all smoke and mirrors. I hope the city can turn itself around and solve its homeless problems and help the mentally ill that need help.
@joymae22 күн бұрын
I can see that. The divide is very wide between the rich and poor and it's sad.

I agree with you. NYC is for the rich or naive liberals. Also I wanted to live in NYC but it's too liberal. Liberal places don't believe in law and order, they believe in stupid unproven philosophies that just create more chaos and decline.

I am also lonely I live in the city of Milwaukee Wisconsin. It’s not as big as New York but it’s still pretty large and it is hard to find friends. I also do a lot of traveling around United States and Europe my favorite place in the United States so far is Los Angeles, California, which I find people more friendly than any city out east.
