In the gameplay trailer at 2:06 when she used her tactical she placed it good distance above her and immediately after she placed it pulled her up and over into the portal. It’s only an idea and they have to test it and see how it works with everything while also purposefully making it strong so it gets people to want to purchase the character. It is literally Ash's ult. The original version of her ult before she was released was the ability to portal through walls and is probably why it has that garbage lock on mechanic they refuse to get rid of

This is what I fear. There’s about to be a whole bunch of void nexus ash, wraith, alter, maggie-caustic- catalyst ulting bullshit as soon as they come out the other side of alter’s tactical and they get away for FREE. We should be able to shoot that tactical to eliminate it and there definitely better be a delay on coming through the portal because I don’t see a good enough counter for this shit….

This character single handedly and simultaneously solves 3rd partying but breaks every other aspect of this game lol. @@maybejustafew1031build a stout triangular watson fence and caustic trap around the portal. Taking into account the quick shifting time, you can snare an opponent with the right placement of a Watson fence, and the rear “leg” of the triangle is to punish before she re-enters. I’m sure Lamic will find a way to counter Alter pretty soon. The caustic gas further slows and disorients the opponent. Also you can shoot cluster nades at the portal with fuze for free damage/area denial. You can thermite it, you could shoot a maggie drill right at it or near it, or on to a wall perpendicular to it. There’s tons of creative ways to counter an Alter portal. And the infinite loop scenario I imagine would be incredibly rare to even get to work, as well as the fact that it’d only be viable to stall the opponent since you can’t shoot them either, good luck setting it up in time to leverage a reset against an injured opponent

I disagree. I believe I have a valid counter argument to this. I’m a Wraith main but my secondary is Ash, I used to have similar sentiments when I started using her when I compared her to wraith such as “Why does Ash have a phase/portal hybrid ult when Wraith already does that”. But answer was simple the more I played, and it relates to Alter as well. If me and my team are trapped and need to get from point A to B within seconds, there is no better ability than Phase Tear. Wraith portal is more methodical and versatile when covering long distances. And just like Wraith, Alter can only do ult repositioning if she herself is separated from her team. Alter tactical has amazing potential but is more position oriented. Ash ult can be used on the fly with minimal barriers. All three void users have their purpose to me. Ash is a great offensive asset to create pressure, Wraith is the most evasive and has the smallest frame, and Alter is a breacher who can make a strong push to finish fights.

If you observe the death logs, you can possibly determine the enemies weapons and location, all with alter's passive. The downside is you would need a visual of the death box (So you can see yhe player's name) and its hard to keep track with death logs

Nexus should definitely be placed around doors it seems like. I did not know that it creates a portal for the enemy to follow you. The Nexus will definitely be used when you are low or in a bad position, so having a door to hide behind for at least a battery will be huge. Otherwise, they could ape you by following you who is presumably low and just murder you dead.

From the changes I read about the legends perks, guns updates and also abilities from current legends. I believe it balanced the game so much (finally) where a lot of comps can be viable now. For example, for the defensive comps like (watson, castle, hound), with the new legend abilities (and even now) you may not be safe inside a building as you think. Also, makes another legend step up, bc of abilities to counter another abilities. I like this, almost every legend will be if not all playable competitive (rank and tournaments). Personally we just need a touch in rank settings (no splits, makes all of your efforts to rank up to be wash away, you have to grind again what you did, mas no sense to me) and the points system for me needs an adjustment not a big one, make it as close as tournament close as possible. What I mean is, for top 5 teams should be rewarded more points even with 1 team kill (1 or 2 assists for example). With this, ranked will be more close to a rank game, where everyone wants to rank up and for that you need good placement and if you have some assists only or kill is ok. With this also people will not just drop immediately (like in a normal game). Although the drop will be removed (IDK if it is this Season or just in tournaments). The rest of it is pretty awesome! :D (Just fix servers overall, get better ones :) )

I definitely see her as a breaching meta. Her alt paid with a lifeline would allow her and another teammate to breach a door or just go out and get kills. But if they get knocked they just portal back for the quick revive. Her, Watson/caustic(even though he got patched again!!) and lifeline could make for some nasty work. You'd think you have two knocked and portal in to small room with traps and grenades

😂 Pretty much. I mean I could be wrong but being able to take one thing from a deathbox is meh, the tactical is mostly a run away ability and the ultimate IS a run away ability. That doesn't really help you win fights (and it gives your enemies time to heal) That's why conduit was/is so strong... She helps you win fights, not run away from them. However if you're going up against a controller team like one based against Watson you've basically made her fences useless which is nice.

From an offensive perspective, Alter’s ultimate ability is far better than what people think. You get the benefit of pushing with full health unlike rev totem and being able to reset from any point unlike when you use wraiths portal offensively. Yes you run the risk of getting knocked, and yes the ultimate takes time to activate. But how is that any different than using a battery in a normal push. You now have a failsafe against the team you’re pushing and as a bonus against third parties The positioning of the ult is what’s going to dictate what it’s better for. If there’s a decent chance you won’t be immediately third partied, then place it from a position where you will be able to quickly reset and anchor. If there’s multiple teams around and you want to push anyways then you place it as if it was a rev totem In all other aspects the ult is lackluster, but I would argue that this is the first skirmisher that provides an ability that the entire team can use reliably for fighting since you are essentially able to reset instead of getting knocked. All other skirmishers really only help you reposition or run

She looks very strong but it's far from being op in my opinion. The q is the strongest part of her kit no doubt but is a double edge sword so it really depends on the skills of the player, and that's also good. The weirdest thing to me is the vertical q on horizontal surfaces. I have a strong feeling that is going to be removed entirely, looks too easy to abuse. Passive and ultimate are fine, a selfish loba market and an improved death totem(both good but nothing special). It all comes down to your mind games and positioning, two things that luckily enough required skills. I can already see players get bored of her just because they can't use her effectively.

Some basic found lore i think may be part of her story line. The fact Catalysts friends were talking about how "Olympus" fell onto broken moon even though everyone else was on The actual Olympus which means Alter isn't from a different world unlike the others, insteas she comes from an opposite Reality where most people are the opposite because if you have the season battlepass, you can see the emotes where they get sucked in and teleported out as a different person, which means theres a possibility That theres a world in this reality where alter does something else other than phasing through walls :D

I like how this legend is only SUPER strong if you know how to play her well. Seer was busted because with two buttons(tac,and alt) you can put the enemies at such a disadvantage with near zero effort. Alter has a low skill floor because her abilities are pretty simple and straight forward and provide big benefit to her an her team, but they have downsides, and counters of their own. Also the skill CEILING is quite high, meaning she has so much potential and it relies on the PLAYER to be creative, and make the situational determination on when and how to use her abilities and rewards creative thinking. The only nerf I can see being warranted is a cool down on her passive because you can snag teammates so much ammo/so many heals just by rolling up to a massacre that just ended.
